Welcome Sammy to our Hutt Valley team!

With a strong creative background and a natural eye for detail, we’re thrilled to have Sammy on board - especially in a hands-on industry where design meets craftsmanship. He takes real pride in delivering work that is clean, accurate, and completed to a high standard.

Sammy is working closely with Shaun across both the design and production side of the business. He is spending time developing artwork in design software as well as getting hands-on with our printing machinery and production processes.

Before joining our team, Sammy studied at Yoobee College in Wellington, completing a Level 6 Diploma in Creative Digital Design, a Level 5 Diploma in Web & Graphic Design, and a Level 4 Certificate in Creative Media. That foundation in design and digital creativity is now being brought to life in a practical, real-world setting, where he’s continuing to grow his skills every day.

Sammy says, “I’ve always loved creating and working with visual media, so being able to apply my design background in a hands-on environment has been really rewarding. I’m enjoying learning the process from production through to installation.”

Born and raised in Petone, Sammy takes pride in working on projects that support his local community, and is enjoying getting out on site across the Hutt Valley to see his work come to life.

We’re proud to have Sammy as part of the team and excited to see all his skills continue to develop as he grows in the signage industry.

Take a little stroll with us along the Petone Esplanade 🚶☀️

There’s more to wayfinding signage than simply applying graphics to a pathway - choosing the right product for the environment matters just as much as the design itself.

For this recent Petone Esplanade project, we used aluminium foil concrete graphics designed specifically for high-traffic outdoor environments. These graphics are made to embed into the surface of the concrete itself, creating an incredibly durable finish that can handle heavy foot traffic, changing weather conditions, UV exposure, water, heat, and cold.

The textured surface also provides aggressive slip resistance, making them a practical solution for public spaces and coastal walkways where safety is important.

One of the reasons we love this product is that it offers a modern alternative to traditional painted pavement graphics. Not only does it allow for customised and detailed designs, but it’s also built to last significantly longer in outdoor environments.

A feature worth highlighting is that these graphics are PVC-free and use an aluminium foil base, making them a more environmentally conscious option compared to traditional vinyl-based alternatives. The aluminium material is recyclable after use and was purposely selected for projects where long-term durability and environmental considerations both matter.

We’ve installed these graphics in some seriously demanding locations over the years - including riverside areas exposed to flooding and harsh weather - and they continue to perform exceptionally well.

Projects like this are a great reminder that good signage isn’t just about creating something that looks good on day one. It’s about selecting products that are fit for purpose, built for the environment they’re going into, and designed to stand the test of time.

Cole is a very valued signwriter here at Speedy Signs Hutt Valley, working both in the workshop and on-site to support our production team with signage installations and a wide range of day-to-day tasks.

His role is key to keeping things running smoothly, and we truly appreciate the skill and dedication he brings to every project.

Cole enjoys being part of the hands-on side of the business, helping bring signage together from preparation through to installation. He takes pride in doing his part to ensure each job is completed to a high standard and loves contributing to projects that help our clients’ brands come to life.

Cole says, “I enjoy the variety of the work and being able to jump in where needed. It’s satisfying seeing everything come together and knowing you’ve played a part in delivering a great result for the client.”

Outside of work, Cole channels his creativity into music. As a DJ, he has a strong passion for sound and rhythm, bringing great energy whether he’s behind the decks or on the tools. That creative mindset carries through into his work, where attention to detail and good flow make all the difference.
