Gonna make this 👇🏽🍓🥝

Did you know strawberries aren’t technically berries?! In botanical terms, a true berry has seeds embedded in the flesh, while strawberries have their seeds on the outside. Each small seed on the surface of a strawberry is called an "achene," making strawberries an "aggregate fruit" rather than a true berry.

The 5+ A Day Charitable Trust is celebrating Fruit & Vegetables Prices Dropping by 8.5%* with Spring Produce Launching

Spring is the perfect time to reset your eating habits and colourful in-season fruit and vegetables are the key to success, offering unbeatable value.

In the 12 months to July 2024, prices for fruit and vegetables fell 8.5% according to the latest figures released by Stats NZ *– and improving affordability has come at just the right time. Eating plenty of spring produce can help boost your energy levels and improve overall wellness as they’re packed with essential vitamins and minerals.

5+ A Day Trustee and Principal Scientist and Team Leader at The New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Limited, Dr Carolyn Lister, says now is good opportunity to shift to healthier eating patterns after winter.

“The availability and plentiful supply of fresh fruit and vegetables at this time of year certainly makes it easier, and there are some tasty ways to incorporate seasonal produce into your breakfast, lunch or dinner routine.”

Took this fun photo with Mount Ward candidate Jen Scoular and Mahe Drysdale at the Mount skatepark. 📸📸

Jen is my height, so Mahe is a giant, no wonder he won all those Olympic medals!

I was across some paid polling last week, and it showed no women were ranking first in any of the Wards in Tauranga. Now, it was just one poll, and I hope it’s not right… BUT, just in case wāhine ma we need to mobilise and vote.

Of course Jen Scoular for Mount Ward has my vote of confidence, she’s more than qualified for this position.

As at 2 days ago only 11 percent had voted.

Get amongst it, please vote. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Want A Natural Winter Pick-Me-Up? Head Straight To Your Fruit Bowl 🍊🍋 🥝

We often feel sluggish in winter but seasonal fruit is renowned for lifting our mood, energy and immunity levels just when we need it most.

Eating Navel oranges, Green and Gold kiwifruit, tamarillos and adding lemons to hot drinks can provide an instant winter boost, as buying fruit in season is always the most affordable option and provides optimal health benefits.

The 5+ A Day Charitable Trust recommends people eat five or more servings of colourful, fresh vegetables and two servings of fruit every day.💪🏽💪🏽
