Aurora and Milky Way over Pouakai Tarns (pano)

Settings: ISO3200, f3.5, 60sec, 50mm
The aurora is the pink, purple and yellow / greenish glow. The Milky Way core is just starting to rise on the left. Aurora from this far north are rare and for it to combine with a clear and calm night was really special - especially given that the forecast was for cloud and most of Taranaki was covered in low cloud the whole night. It's more common for it to be the other way around - cloud on the mountain but clear elsewhere! It made the 2 hour hike with 15kg of gear worth it.
