Are you blogging regularly?

I've not talked about blogging recently, but it still is one of the best ways for small businesses to get in front of potential clients through SEO (search engine optimisation). Make sure each blog has a link to a relevant services page and your lead magnet. Make time in your diary to post a blog once a week between now and Christmas. Share your blog on social media and in your newsletters.

Add a touch of salt

But not too much otherwise it raises blood pressure! What I mean by adding salt is to add a touch of pain to your conversations on social media and in email newsletters. Bread tastes bad without adding a pinch of salt, but too much ruins the mix. It's the same with pain.
What might happen if they DON'T sign up with you? What impact will this have on their lives? Will 2023 have to be the same for them? Or is there a better outcome? It doesn't take much - just one sentence will do. A wee bit of salt reminds people they don't need to put up with bland.

Ok folks. It's 13 weeks until Christmas. Why care? Because if you're anything like me, you've got a 3-point wish list of things to happen at Christmas 2022.

1. To have a break - actually, a paid break is even better
2. To have clients on my waiting list to start after my break
3. To have a slightly more stable 2023!

Many of my clients tell me this is exactly what they were thinking when they decided to reach out for help.

The first thing to remember is that your website isn't about you - it's actually about your client. So, to work out why it doesn’t feel like you, you need to know what your clients need to know before they engage with you.

Make sure you know

👉 what problem you're helping them solve

👉 how they feel when their problem's solved

Years ago, I lectured at Massey University on the MSc Dietetics course on Health Literacy. Many (many) years before this, I was involved in setting up informed consent policies in a hospital I worked at in the UK.

I think of conversion copywriting as a bit like informed consent.

👍 Has the website and email copy I’ve written given my client all the information they need to make an informed choice?
👍 Has it been presented in a way that they can understand?
👍 Can they appreciate the implications of their choices?
👍 Is there somewhere they can go for more information?
