We restored thia much loved statue, we recazt her hands and repaired her aged past bringing to the glorious state she was in.
* We have very sad news to share with our St Mary’s Parish family. The statue of Our Lady the blessed Virgin Mary outside our Church was seriously damaged overnight.
The cameras have captured very good video of a man smashing off her hands and damaging her face badly. We are very thankful however that two people walking by interrupted him.
The Police have been informed and will be provided with what is very good video with sound. We have asked the Press to be of support in terms of helping locate both the person who did this, so in need of our prayers, and the two people whose courage interrupted the act.
You are able to visit, united in our faith and love to pray with Mother Mary and lay flowers but please do not cross the barrier cones until the Police have done all their work. Let us also remember in our prayers the person who did this sad act.
We will update you on how we will work towards the repair or replacement. We will be praying a special Rosary at 5.30 pm on Wednesday 15th of January and you are most welcome to join.
Hopefully this man is found and receives the help he obviously needs & a huge thankyou to the citizens walking past that intervened...we all have a part to play in keeping our city safe and calling out bad behavior when we see it regardless of whatever your beliefs may be!*
