From Max Tarr Engineering to Tarros.

The water and mechanical infrastructure team came to us looking for a name and identity that could stand on its own while still sitting within the Max Tarr Group.

The goal was to create a distinct brand that would help them reach their particular client base while remaining connected to the sister company.

Tarros came out of that process. A quiet nod to Taras, son of Poseidon, with the subtle TARR acknowledging where they came from.

The identity draws from the world they work in, pipes, flow lines and engineered forms, creating a visual language that carries across signage, vehicles, uniforms and documents.

We rolled the brand out across collateral and templates, built a landing page, and are now working with them on the full website, alongside photography directed to support it.

A shift that flows naturally from Max Tarr to Tarros.

Some businesses are sitting on a lot of data, they just don’t always know how to communicate it.

Annual reports aren’t exactly page-turners. No one’s lining up for the yearly release of business data.

But people don’t read complicated information well, and how something is laid out makes a big difference to how it’s understood.

That’s where good design comes in.

It turns dense numbers into something clear, easy to follow, and actually useful. It helps people see what’s working, what’s not, and what the business is really about.

It might not be the next New York Times best seller, but it can still be something people get value from.

They’ve always said “If it was any fresher, we’d be milking on your doorstep.”

Fair to say our clients at Udderly Organic have leaned into that in this latest collaboration with Horowhenua District Council.

Hard to argue with the logic,we reckon Levin residents should milk the opportunity for all it’s worth, pats included.

SPIDER-DOG

Our spider plant has been busy and we’ve now got a bunch of spiderlets looking for new homes.

At the same time, our ex-flocker Lizi is raising funds to help get a support dog for her daughter. So we joined a few dots and turned it into a win-win situation, here’s how it works:

1. Pop into Blacksheepdesign and grab a spider plant
2. Scan the QR code and donate whatever you can
3. Plants get loving new homes.
4. A young girl gets one step closer to the support dog she needs.

That last one’s the big win.

If plants aren’t your thing but giving is, you can donate directly here → https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/giving-amelia-her-world-back-with-sammy

Either the team missed the uniform memo, or Mark’s hired a stunt double. As long as those sweaters are real wool, we’ll call it on brand.

We’ve been a little under the pump... so yes, the socials have been ignored.

Lucky for us, Tamara, our newest addition, politely reminded us that posting is, in fact, a thing.

So here are a few reasons we love having her in the flock:
→ She has two homes: Palmerston North and Argentina.
→ She can design, illustrate, and panic at the same time (elite multitasking).
→ She’s obsessed with the smell of fresh print - concerning, but we support her.
→ She befriends every animal within a 20-metre radius.
→ She has no music genre loyalty, which keeps the office playlist complaint-free.

Welcome, Tamara. Enjoy this moment of content… the next one might be a month away. Sorry in advance.

If you’ve ever tried to hold in a fart, you already get this campaign.

That split-second internal debate - keep it in or let it rip?

We’ve all been there. Especially trapped in the back seat on a family roadie with your siblings…
Yeah, some things are definitely best kept in.

When Summit Steel & Wire came to us, they wanted to bring back their cheek.

They’ve grown from humble beginnings into absolute weapons in the fencing game - but somewhere along the way, that classic Kiwi grit and humour took a back seat.

Music. To. Our. Ears.

By the end of our first call we were already scheming.

And a few weeks later… well, we somehow convinced them to let us film a kid ripping one in the back of a car. (Plus a few other nostalgic gems still to come.)

…and here we are. Proudly farting across New Zealand’s screens.

And honestly? Getting to know the Summit crew has been a pleasure.
Good humans. Good yarns. Good sense of humour.

So if you’re looking to keep things in… or keep things out - Summit fencing has your back. And your boundary.

Below is video 1 of 3 in our ‘Some things are best kept in…’ series.
Watch it. Have a laugh. Share it.

And when you’re next in-store, ask for Summit fencing.

Big on pork pies
Sounds a bit like Mark

Yep, another Brit joins the flock. The jug’s boiling over time (RIP power bill), but he’s one of the good guys. Literally.

Welcome aboard, Guy.
