Belief is not something I magically woke up with one day. ❌️
I have to build it.
Repeat it.
Protect it and sometimes make myself a little delulu until things workout.
Its something I have to come back to it when the doubt gets loud.
Becoming a successful full-time artist while I’m still alive, not “one day,” not “when I’m older,” and not “when I’m more established” - takes more than talent.
It takes evidence.
It takes tiny daily actions.
It takes remembering why I started when the sales are slow, the ideas feel messy, or the self-doubt starts trying to run the show.
So these are 3 things I do to keep believing:
1. I revisit my "why" daily.
This is the reason I even started, the reason for myself and my future and the reason I wanted change before a potential different future was going to unfold infront of me. --- think to yourself, HOW BAD DOES IT HAVE TO GET BEFORE YOU MAKE CHANGE. If things are FINE in your life, but you dream of a better one nearly everyday, maybe take some time to think more on that and perhaps another career might present itself with better things then you could have imagined.
2. I listen to people who remind me what’s possible.
I love tedtalks, podcasts and research that encourage me to keep going. You are what you eat goes beyond the food you put in your body.
3. I look for proof that artists are already doing this - and then I take one small step too.
THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE MADE IT IN THE ART INDUSTRY! Whether through dance, music, or painting, there are people who have earned an income and continued to live their life beyond the classic "struggling artist" phase. Take a look at Tahlia Stanton, H**e Studios, and Maren from Stube Creative as a few examples of full time artists that are absolutely smashing it. (Keep going gals, you are an inspiration 🙌🎊🫶)
This is your reminder:
you do not need to believe in the whole vision today.
You just need to believe in the next step.
And then take it.
For the artists, makers, dreamers, and small business babes building something real - keep going. We’re not delusional. We’re devoted.
