There's been a LOT happening behind the scenes this year and we're stoked to finally share it!

Introducing First Response - cyber and AI crisis communications designed to help organisations prepare, respond, and protect trust when it matters most.

From workshops and toolkits, through to tailored crisis communication strategies, First Response is built to help organisations respond with confidence and clarity when the time comes.

This has been an exciting kaupapa to build, and one that is increasingly needed for organisations navigating cyber and AI-related risk.

Watch this space - you'll hear more about First Response over the next few days...

It’s a bit of a late post…but we are utterly, utterly thrilled to report that we won GOLD at the PRINZ awards tonight in the Small Consultancy of the Year category.

We have been through a lot in the past two years, but whatever challenges have been thrown at us, we’ve continued to deliver outstanding mahi for our clients - and we’ve continued to have lots of laughs with it.

I couldn’t be prouder of this team - and I’m so grateful for the incredible people we have around us. Ka nui te mihi for the laughs, tissues and vodka (when required!)

Proper posts to come later but for now 🙌🙌

Ngā mihi nui, Jacky

Ps. Incredibly there were two gold awards as apparently they couldn't be separated - go the regional SMEs! Huge congrats to fellow gold winners, Brain Child 🍾

An awesome client kaupapa! 🙌🏼

Jacky and the Cetogenix team have known each other since their Scion days back in 2005, and we couldn't be more stoked about this huge development for them - huge congrats and thanks for having us along to be part of the journey!

The technology supports a circular economy and means 'waste is literally not wasted'.

The countdown to Budget 2026 is on and our Shiney team is ready ✨

RNZ must've been eavesdropping in the Shine tari because they stole our line about it being the most wonderful time of year...if you're a Budget nerd like us 🤭

All jokes aside, we highly recommend reading this article ahead of Budget Day āpōpō - it tells you everything you need to know about the Government's annual Budget process and what the final outcomes mean for Aotearoa.

Explainer: It's almost Budget Day. Here's why it's important, and what will happen and when.

Jacky spoke at the 2026 NZCCI Conference last week and we (Awhi & Steph) think she smashed it!

Jacky spoke about the growing reality of cyber and AI crises, and why organisations need to shift their mindset from reacting to events, to managing fast-moving public narratives. Drawing on real New Zealand examples, she showed how poor communication can escalate reputational damage, and emphasised that strong preparation is key to protecting trust.

Jacky is really looking forward to joining an epic speaking lineup at this week’s New Zealand Chambers of Commerce conference in Rotorua.

Hosted by the Rotorua Business Chamber, and with keynote addresses from nzherald.co.nz's Liam Dann, Ministers Louise Upston and Cameron Brewer, and Labour’s finance spokesperson, Barbara Edmonds, it’s shaping up to be a truly insightful few days, perfectly set against Rotorua’s stunning winter backdrop.

The conference will close with a session from Matt Browning and Stephen Johnson from Incredible AI, designed to showcase the AI opportunities for businesses.

This is a topic which makes Jacky’s session all the more important - ensuring organisations of all shapes and sizes have a Reputation Firewall in place to help protect against the trust and confidence fallout from a cyber security or AI misuse incident.

We can’t wait to check it out!

It was nearly standing room only at the Icehouse Ignite 2026 event in Tāmaki Makaurau last week – and Jacky soaked up every moment of an incredibly inspiring line-up.

She says there were too many highlights to name them all, but there’s a few that really stuck:

Nerolie Curran (Propel Performance Group) – with sharp, practical insights on what it truly takes to lift a high-performing team to the next level ✨

Pic's Peanut Butter – Pic and Amy – a refreshingly honest take on succession in a family business, and how to get the balance right when leadership shifts 🥜

Danny Tomsett (UneeQ) – a brilliant reminder of what Kiwi innovation can do on the global stage, pushing boundaries in digital human technology 🤖

And, true to form, Jacky also loved the political panel chaired by Paddy Gower – and couldn’t resist grabbing a photo (mainly to keep up with her 18-year-old at Vic, who had done the same thing the night before!).

Huge thanks to Icehouse for an epic day of ideas, energy and inspiration. We’ll be back for 2027.

In an increasingly constrained media environment, achieving widespread national coverage is always a win. It’s extra satisfying when the story is about a company that has created something truly innovative that will benefit New Zealanders, the environment, AND the economy.

We were super proud to support Tnue to share its story, with coverage across One News, RNZ, NZHerald, NBR, Farmers Weekly, Rotorua Daily Post, and the Waikato Times.

Coverage like this doesn’t happen by accident, that’s where we shine 😉
