A few years ago a yoga retreat came up.
Two hours from home.
Weekend away. $500. I nearly didn't go.
$500 felt like a lot to spend on myself. What would my husband think? Could I justify it? Was I being selfish?
I went anyway.
The yoga was excellent. The venue was amazing. The organisers were so welcoming. The chef cooked food was a delight. And the extra activities were both challenging but fun. I slept better than I had in months.
But the real thing that happened?
I had said YES to myself. Maybe for the first time in years.
That one small yes started something.
Slowly - over years - I stretched what I'd say yes to. Longer trips. Bigger investments. Different countries.
This year I went to Peru.
Because Machu Picchu had been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
And I finally decided I wasn't going to keep filing it under "someday."
Eight years after that $500 weekend two hours from home - I stood at Machu Picchu.
I got there because I started small. Because I said yes once, when everything in me was saying no - you can't spend that much on yourself.
The guilt was there. I pushed it aside.
So tell me - what's on your bucket list that you'd say yes to in a heartbeat if someone gave you permission?
Drop it below. I genuinely want to know. 💙
