Can you spot the hotspot? 🔥👀

That bright patch = overheating wiring ⚠️ Something you’d never see just looking at it.

I test & tag electric blankets AND use Thermal Imaging to catch these hidden faults.

Worth checking before you plug it in this winter ❄️

It’s a quick, affordable check that could make all the difference this winter.

Another great example of why regular electrical testing matters.

During a recent test, I found an angle grinder with a perishing power cord right where it enters the tool. It was barely noticeable at first glance, but once the cord was flexed, the damage became clear.

This is the kind of fault that could easily be missed in day-to-day use. Thanks to the regular testing regime in place at this workshop, it was identified and removed before becoming a serious safety risk.

Standard with all my testing are the following
- Recording actual test values
- Providing a detailed report
- No hourly rate on top of a tag rate

Not sure if your current setup meets the AS3760:2022 requirements and need help understanding what’s required, I'm happy to have a chat...

Thanks Turner's for choosing Baytag for your Electrical Testing and Tagging....

Yes, I did spot "Tina" here's some things you may not know about the well-known advertising character played by actress and comedian Sieni Leo'o Olo, whose nickname is Bubbah.

She is recognised for her role in the popular Turners Cars commercials in New Zealand. Due to the character's fame, many people mistakenly believe the actress's name is Tina.

Real Name: Sieni Leo'o Olo
Nickname: Bubbah, a childhood nickname that has stuck

Iconic Role: The character is widely recognised, and the ads are considered iconic

"Electrical Safety Matters" .... Should you test chargers?

🚨 A $5 Charger Nearly Cost a Family Their Home 🏠🔥

A Greenhithe family experienced every homeowner’s worst nightmare — a house fire sparked by a cheap phone charger purchased from an online retailer. (Temu)

The charger overheated while in use, ignited the bedding it was resting on, and quickly escalated into a blaze that required five fire trucks. Fortunately, everyone made it out safely. But the home suffered significant damage.

This isn't just an unfortunate incident — it's a powerful reminder of why test & tagging matters.

✅ Test and tagging isn't just for workplaces or tradies. It's about safety. It ensures that electrical equipment — chargers, tools, appliances — are safe to use, meet NZ standards, and aren’t putting lives or property at risk.

💡 The harsh reality? Many low-cost electronics sold online bypass NZ electrical safety standards completely. They’re not built to last, and worse, they’re not built to be safe.

As a Test & Tag professional in NZ, my message is simple:
👉 Don’t trust a price tag over a safety tag.
👉 Regularly inspect and test equipment – especially in high-risk environments or when buying from overseas retailers.
👉 When in doubt, get it tested. Your safety is worth far more than the few dollars saved.

As someone who works in Test & Tag here in NZ, I can’t stress this enough:

Don’t wait until it’s too late.

A few dollars saved on a charger isn’t worth risking your home or your life.

A cheap phone charger bought online resulted in a fire which tore through a family home.

“Electrical Safety Matters”

Are you aware ….

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, the Electricity Act 1992, and the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, employers have a duty to ensure electrical appliances in the workplace are safe to use.

⚡ It is an offence to allow staff to use equipment that is electrically unsafe.

⚡ If an incident happens and you can’t prove your appliances were tested to an approved standard, you could face investigation or prosecution.

⚡ The recognised way to show you’ve taken “all practicable steps” is regular Test & Tag to AS/NZS 3760.

Keep your workplace safe. Protect your staff. Protect your business. (Yes, that’s is my staff in the pics, loyal and loves a cuddle haha ) 😊
