Some of the best content we create ends up reminding us just how lucky we are to work where we do.

This year we’ve had the chance to capture some incredible businesses, events, and locations, and this project was no different.

Every time we film at Waikanae Golf Club, we’re reminded how special this part of the coast really is. From the aerial views rolling over the fairways to the light hitting the course at just the right time, it’s one of those places that looks even better through the lens.

The drone shots, the scenery, and the atmosphere all came together to showcase what makes WGC such a unique destination.
Creating content is great. Creating content in places like this is even better.

A recent piece of work we created for Waikanae Golf Club, capturing the moments that make this course more than just a place to play.

Sometimes the best content comes from simply letting the scenery do the talking.

450 leads. No big following. No big budget. No clear direction when they started.

So what changed?

They stopped guessing and started using a simple, repeatable content strategy:

Speak to ONE person
Every video opened with a line that made a specific person stop scrolling. If it didn’t feel personal, it didn’t get posted.

Keep it short enough to rewatch40 to 60 seconds. Long enough to deliver value, short enough that people watched it more than once. That repeat viewing matters more than you think.

No hard selling
Not once did they say “buy this.” Instead:“If you found this useful, comment or send us a message.”
That small shift triggered more engagement, which told the algorithm the content was worth pushing further.

More reach.
More conversations.
More leads.

450 of them.

Here’s the part most business owners miss:They didn’t start with paid ads.

They tested content organically first. Found what worked. Then scaled the winners.

You don’t need to go viral.
You need to be specific enough that the right person feels like you’re talking directly to them.

Try it on your next video.

Everyone’s still obsessing over hashtags like it’s 2020
Meanwhile the algorithm is watching one thing only

Are people stopping… or scrolling?

If your content doesn’t grab attention in the first 3 seconds
It doesn’t matter how “optimised” your caption is

No one sees it
The game now is simple

Hook attention → hold attention → earn distribution

Stop stuffing hashtags

Start engineering better openings

That’s how you win in 2026

26/04/2026

You’ve got less than 3 seconds.

That’s how long people give your video before they decide to keep watching or move on.

So editing isn’t the final stepit’s the part that matters most.

Cutting in and outchanging the order of clipspacingsubtitles

These small decisions are what hold attentionor lose it instantly.

You didn’t fall off… you just got busy.

You started posting consistently.

Then work picked up.
Then content became “I’ll do it later.”
And now every time you open Instagram… it’s just guilt.

Sound familiar?

You’re not alone. Most business owners in New Zealand are juggling everything, and social media is usually the first thing to slip. Not because it doesn’t matter, but because there’s no system behind it.

So here’s what actually works:
Stop trying to post every day.Start batching your content.
Pick one day a month. Lock it in.
That’s your content day.

Keep it simple.
A raw video on your phone that actually connects will outperform a polished video you spent hours overthinking.

And if you can’t sustain it, get support.
Because inconsistency is what’s killing your growth, not the algorithm.

You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to keep showing up.

If you’re burnt out and don’t know where to start, comment “RESET” below and I’ll send you a free social media audit to get you back on track.

You’re showing up.
You’re getting views.
Maybe even a few likes.

But no enquiries.

Here’s why I see it happen every single week with NZ business owners:
• You’re posting to stay visible, not to convert• You’re talking about your business, not your customer’s problems• Your content looks too polished, and people don’t trust it• There’s no clear next step for someone ready to act• You’re burnt out trying to do everything yourself

So even when people are interested… nothing happens.
Social media does work.
But only when your message, your content, and your offer actually connect.

Most of the time, fixing 2–3 of these things is all it takes to change everything.

If you want to know what’s holding your content back, comment “fix” below and I’ll send you a free social media audit.

Your social media is not underperforming because your business is bad.
It is underperforming because your content is about you.

“We’ve been in business 10 years”
“We offer high quality services”
“We cover the Wellington region”

None of that stops the scroll.

Not because it is not true

But because your audience does not care about your business when they are scrolling

They care about their problems

That is the shift

Stop leading with what you do

Start leading with what your customer is dealing with
Instead of

“We offer lawn services”

Say
“If your lawn looks like a jungle and you have no idea where to start, this is for you”

Same service
Same business
Completely different result

One gets ignored
One gets attention
Because one makes the viewer feel seen

The businesses winning on social media right now are not posting more
They are posting content that makes their customer think

“That’s exactly me”

That is what turns views into leads

If you want to know what your content should actually be saying

The more professional your content looks… the less people trust it.

Sounds backwards, but it is happening every day.

NZ businesses are spending hours on polished graphics, branded posts, and “perfect” videos…

and getting zero leads.

Meanwhile someone films a quick iPhone video in their van and lands 5 new clients.

Why?

Because people trust people, not production.

Right now, what actually works:
Talking to camera
Behind the scenes
Real moments
Mistakes and lessons

That is what builds trust.

And trust is what converts.

You do not need a big budget.

You need something real to say.
