Which illustration do you like 1 or 2?

Created these super cute pet illustrations for a client over the summer break.

Fun fact I actually got really sick just before I took a end of year break —— it wasn’t COVID btw.

This was my final project for the year so I finished these illustrations in 2 hours so I could take a good rest 😴

I never properly introduce myself here!

Hey i’m Milan, the face behind Niyu studio! 🤠

I asked over on IG stories what you would like to know about me —

Here are some answers to you questions:

1️⃣ I am from Auckland, New Zealand

2️⃣ I started graphic design when I was 16 — making gif, edits of my favourite K-pop artists on tumblr

3️⃣ I am 22 — I turn 23 next week!! 🎉

4️⃣ My favourite food is Bibimbap (I had it three days in a row last week)

5️⃣ I never went to university — I didn't get accepted

6️⃣ When i'm not designing I love to be out in nature 🌿

7️⃣ I have a dragon tattoo that people mistake as Haku from spirited away (it's not Haku!)

8️⃣ I named Niyu studio after my cat, Niyu (I know most people pronounce it Nee you but it's actually Ny-you)

9️⃣ Before doing this full-time I worked as a Barista ☕️

1️⃣0️⃣ My favourite artists are Jhené Aiko, Rina Sawayama and NAO.

So excited to FINALLY share this with you —

Niyu studio's new website is now live! 🎉

In the last months of 2020 I started to feel like I was outgrowing my brand Identity and that it didn't really align with who I was becoming or how I wanted to express myself.

I took a deep look into Niyu studio, our values, mission, our big WHY and heres what I found —

✸ We're here to bring creative colour to your brands unique story

✸ Because you should be free to be unapologetically you!

✸ We thrive on pushing boundaries and daring to be different.

✸ and of course, we live to have fun in the process!

Having more clarity in my businesses allowed me to make an effortless transition to our new logo, colour palette and illustrations that felt more aligned and more me!

How I learnt three different Adobe software in less than 5 months and am ✨ CONFIDENT✨ working in them.⠀

1️⃣ Patience is key 🔑⠀
⠀
Let's be honest learning something new takes time. Having the patience to keep going regardless of how bad it may seem at first can make a massive difference in your improvement.⠀
⠀
2️⃣ Be Kind to yourself⠀
⠀
I get it, it’s super frustrating at times especially when you know exactly what you want but "How the hell do I execute it?"

Be kind to yourself and understand that you are still learning and have fun with the process of learning something new!⠀

3️⃣ Stay Consistent⠀
⠀
Doing it once and leaving it again doesn't help you improve at all. Through implementing the above tips with consistency will rapidly improve your work.⠀

✧ STAY CURIOUS! ✧⠀

This has been the driving force for my creativity since the very beginning!⠀
I got into graphic design because I was curious ⎯⎯ by AMAZING Kpop edits from different fandoms on Tumblr in 2014. It had me wondering how did they do that?⠀
⠀
By staying curious you allow yourself to not only be inspired by others but also stay open to learn and experiment every day ⎯⎯⠀
This ultimately improves your work AND your skills!⠀
⠀
Take this illustration for example ~⠀
⠀
☺︎ I wanted to make my illustration more dynamic.⠀
☺︎ I was inspired by Illustrators that are experimenting with motion.⠀
☺︎ I thought wow, I want to try that out too!⠀

30 days worth of YouTube intro animations back to back.

Phew, this was definitely a fast pace way to push my creative boundaries and further improve my skills in not only design but motion and video editing too. ⠀
