Haere rā, Jodi. With love from Hemisphere.
Yesterday, we closed the office and drove to Whakaoriori Masterton together. To say goodbye to Jodi Macauley — our Kaiwhakahaere Matua, our General Manager, and for all of us, so much more than that.
Jodi joined Hemisphere in 2004. She was our first media person. Then our media director. Then, for more years than we can count, the person who held everything together. The powerhouse behind the scenes. The one who made sure we were fed, encouraged, believed in, and celebrated.
She was the daughter of Wellington advertising legend Don Ryder. She knew this world. She loved it. And she gave everything she had to this agency and the people in it.
We've watched Jodi guide Hemisphere through the good times and the hard times — always with her focus on the people. On marking the milestones. On making sure we knew our work mattered. She didn't just build an agency. She built a culture.
We've shared our lives with Jodi, her husband Kim, and daughters Brittany, Olivia and Charlotte. They've all been part of our world. And we hold them close right now.
Jodi passed away on Monday. She knew this farewell was coming and she faced it — like she faced everything — with courage and clarity.
She backed us. She believed in us. She made Hemisphere possible.
Thank you, Jodi.
