Turbos and Cyclones levelling up šŸŒŖļø

Goal at the start of the season was to help build a strong, cohesive brand for the Turbos and Cyclones that is uniquely Manawatū.

Sat down with the team, revamped the full set of branding - everything from matchday content, to team posters, to everything else in between.

Stoked with how their content is looking, how the posts are performing, and all of the amazing feedback across their socials too!

Sports is such a fast paced industry. Along with the design quality, my key focus with all of our partners is making sure everything is super efficient and systemised.

No stress for them about when theyā€™ll receive deliverables, easy to send briefs, and a very optimised workflow. Making sure they can focus on everything else during the season!

Neither of us expected thatā€¦

I was out getting a bow tie for an event that evening, on a sunny day in Japan and then out of nowhere a storm came in! Pouring rain, thunder, and lightning!

A kind Japanese lady saw me about to head out into the rain, and kindly offered me her umbrella.

She couldnā€™t speak English, and I couldnā€™t speak Japanese.

She gestured and gave me her umbrella, and I could tell she was completely expecting to never see it again - but she was okay with that outcome as long as it helped me!

Unsure if itā€™s just a kiwi mindset, but it became my sole mission that Iā€™d go the lengths to return it!

Late that afternoon, I found myself an umbrella at the 7/11, and picked up some chocolate as a thank you too!

When I returned to the storeā€¦ she couldnā€™t believe it, and her reaction was so precious!

Was such a heart warming crossing of different cultures. We both just smiled, laughed, bowed, and went our separate ways šŸ„¹šŸ’™

Absolute pleasure to partner with Adobe to help showcase their latest upgrades to a creative tool that will make a big difference in the workflow of many fellow sports creators and designers.

These updates make everything a lot faster and more accurate by default ā€“ a GAME CHANGER for beginners ā€“ and it no longer needs cloud processing for maximum accuracy too! šŸ˜

Hereā€™s a breakdown of how I incorporate Photoshopā€™s updated Select Subject tool into my editing workflow, using photos I personally captured over in Tokyo at the World Championships.

Key tips I cover:
ā€¢ Cutting and editting sports images (including complex parts such as hair)
ā€¢ Adding realistic highlights and shadows
ā€¢ Colour correction, lighting and textures to finish it off

Blows my mind every timeā€¦ šŸ¤Æ

One of the craziest things about getting to experience the Worldā€™s best competing in Tokyo - was seeing how INSANE these athletes are.

Itā€™s one thing to watch it on TVā€¦ but I guarantee you, these athletes are so much more incredible in person!

They run faster, jump further, pole vault higher, and throw further than you could even imagine.

An experience Iā€™ll never forget, and hopefully this little snippet helps to at least put it a bit more in perspective for everyone!

It's always about giving back...

These athletes give us SO much joy each and every week. Whether for their Super team, kitting up for the All Blacks ā€“ they inspired millions of people week in week out.

The artwork is my way of helping give something back to them. Using my craft as a way to say thank you for everything they've done for me, the fans, and our country!

I believe in also sharing knowledge. It would be easy to sit here and keep everything I know to myself and keep doing what I'm doing.

But I want others to be able to chase their dreams too.

Other creatives who are trying to find a way into the industry, just like I was 10 years ago.

So I'm working on something very excited to help teach and show everything how they can create amazing sports artwork themselves too.

Maybe it'll help get their favourite sporting idol to see their work. Maybe it'll help them pursue their passion, or land a dream job with a pro team.

All of these would bring me so much joy to see others realise what is possible in the industry.

First ever time watching boxing live, and got to capture it from ringside. Could hear every punch. Every breathe. And literally sweat spray onto us šŸ˜…

I captured some photos that absolutely loved, edited in a nostalgic, retro and old-school vibes. Then I wanted to do something furtherā€¦
