Huge hack today affecting people using GoDaddy managed WordPress hosting. Details in the link.

This does NOT affect customers hosted with us.
This does NOT affect customers who are using WordPress but are NOT using GoDaddy managed hosting.
This does NOT affect customers who buy domains through GoDaddy but do NOT host with them.

In a security disclosure published today, GoDaddy says that up to 1.2 million active and inactive customers have been exposed after hackers gained access to its managed WordPress hosting platform.

Crazy domains has taken over Open Host and are currently transferring both domain registration and hosting clients who were previously with open host.

Be aware that you are no obligation to keep your domain with them. its NEVER a good idea to build a business on a platform you don't own. Websites and mailing lists you control - Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook etc etc are sources of traffic - they are NOT your business

This is not about winning the the $$ - though I'm sure no one would say no! But this is beingheavily promoted by some big players like Xero - the website will become authorative to the search engines for terms like "small business nz" - so you its a GREAT idea to have a link from it. Go and submit your business now - its free

Ouch sometimes websites do go down and its not even your fault! This is why backups matter, multiple backups in different places.

My laptop's files is backed up to two different cloud locations, and to an external hard drive.

Client's websites are backed up to a third party (not the hosting company), plus those on our new hosting have a second independent backup on that hosting too.
