🚀 A New Chapter Begins 🚀

After an incredible journey of entrepreneurship spanning 5 amazing years, I've decided to take a bold step and return to the world of full-time employment. This decision wasn't made lightly, but I believe it's the right move for me and my family.

Running my own business has been the ultimate crash course in life. I've learned more in these five years than I ever could have in any course or previous job. It's been a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows, and I wouldn't trade a moment of it for anything.

I've had the privilege of working with some truly exceptional people, those who lifted me up and those who challenged me to grow. I've served incredible clients who've become more than just business connections—they've become friends. And yes, there were those clients who tested my patience, but they too contributed to my personal and professional growth.

To all of you who've been a part of this journey, I am immensely grateful. 🙏

I've discovered my passion lies in helping small businesses thrive, particularly in the realm of marketing. The exciting part is that I'll still get to do what I love, but with some incredible perks—like a steady paycheck, paid holidays, sick leave, and the luxury of not having to worry about accounting nightmares.

This is some of the BNI South Wairarapa, NZ group last night having a social night with in Martinborough.

Everyone was handed the same size canvas and paint and given the same instructions but all with completely different outcomes.

This is what your marketing should look like when you are compared with others in your industry.

People choose who they do business with because of their unique differences and that should be reflected in your own marketing from your social posts, website, logo, car signage, flyers etc.

Don't be tempted to copy others' posts or images.

Show people how you think, who you are and what you will do for them and most of all show them how that is different from everyone else in the room.

Don't aim for the masses aim to find "Your" people.

Good old Facebook memories.

5 years ago I made the leap to try it out on my own.

Over those 5 years I have not just experienced some challenging times in business but some of the most challenging in my personal life. So probably not the ideal combination.

I look at this picture and then in the mirror and go "damn I've aged" lol

There has been huge set backs but then some glorious wins.

I have grown more business, professional and personal skills and experience in that 5 years then the previous 39. (Yes took me a moment to do the maths)

I have discovered a real joy and passion for wanting to help other small business owners and a healthy loath of managing financial accounts.

I know who I do want to work with, collaborate with and what I need to do to look after me and the businesses and people I don't want to align with and what isn't good for me.

So I sit pondering what do I want the next 5 years to look like and even beyond and where to take things to next?

It is always good to stop and ask your "Why, What and When" regularly when you have a business and as we have learnt in the last few years it's important to be prepared to change and move that if they have changed.

All because you have done things a certain way doesn't mean that's how they should always stay.

Take risks, be bold.

No good success story starts with I did everything right and played it safe.

Business these days seems to be getting harder and harder.

We all survived COVID and thought the worst would be behind us but then a not so little thing called a recession joined nicely with an upcoming election to real put the extra kick in our guts.

This has really forced majority of everyday New Zealanders to cut back on their spending and now it can be seen across all sectors and is being felt hard by small businesses who have no more rainy day funds left.

As a small business owner as well I understand that spending money on your business and your marketing as much as one of the most important things you should continue with during these times isn't possible for some.

Don't give up.
