One little bird.
One impossible journey.
One beautiful book. 🪶
Meet the Kuaka — the Bar-Tailed Godwit
and quite possibly the toughest traveller on the planet. 🌏
Every spring these birds fly non-stop from Alaska all the way to Aotearoa. No food, no water, no rest up to 11 days in the air over open ocean.
It’s the longest non-stop flight of any animal on Earth. Then, come autumn, they loop back via the Yellow Sea in China to refuel before pushing on to Alaska to breed.
A round-the-world commute that ends, every year, on our shores.💕
We had the privilege of printing this gorgeous 20-page board book
celebrating their epic migration.
Full colour throughout, mounted on chunky 350gsm board, square 160×160mm, collated, bound, and finished with soft round corners,
built to survive little hands and big imaginations. 📖✨
There’s something fitting about a 100+ year old Whanganui printer telling the story of a bird that’s been making this journey far, far longer. 💚
