Applauding PNG's Department of Education for Prioritising Digital Libraries in Education ππ»
A big thank you to the PNG Department of Education for including a dedicated Digital Library provision in the newly released Integrated ICT Policy in Education Standards 2025β2029.
This is a forward-thinking step that will:
β
Give students and teachers centralised access to quality digital learning resources
β
Support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) so students can access e-library content on campus
β
Encourage schools to develop their own guidelines for mobile device use in teaching and learning
β
Ensure digital content stays aligned with the local curriculum and learning outcomes
β
Open channels for parents and communities to give feedback and help improve the platform
β
Protect intellectual property rights while promoting knowledge sharing
By embedding digital libraries into national ICT standards, the Department is helping build a knowledge-based society and closing the gap in access to quality educational resources across PNG's schools β from urban centres to remote communities.
This is exactly the kind of policy leadership our education system needs as we move toward a more connected, tech-enabled future for learning. ππ΅π¬
