Early detection saves lives!
To all our sisters, mothers, and daughters in Lae: The Well Women’s Clinic is here to support your health journey with free cervical cancer screenings.
Where to find us?
Located inside the National Cancer Treatment Center at Angau Hospital.
Who is eligible?
Women aged 30 and above. This service is specifically for women living within Lae. No referral letter needed! Just bring your hospital book.
What is VIA Screening?
VIA stands for Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid. It is a simple, effective way to find changes in the cervix before they turn into cancer.
How is it done?
A trained nurse applies a small amount of diluted vinegar (acetic acid) to the cervix. They then look for any areas that turn white, which may indicate abnormal cells.
Is it painful?
It is a quick, non-surgical procedure that may cause minor discomfort but is generally painless.
When do I get results?
One of the best things about VIA is that it provides instant results. You will know the outcome before you leave the clinic!
Why is it important?
Cervical cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages. By getting screened, we can catch problems early when they are much easier to treat.
Taking 15 minutes for a test today can protect your future and your family.
Clinic Hours Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
