A Journey of Strength, Love, and Duty
On the 26th of March 2026, Cathy Yur Gundu will proudly march out of the National Centre of Excellence Bomana, not just as a graduate, but as a sworn policewoman ready to serve her nation with honor. Her journey to this moment has not been easy—it has been a path shaped by sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering support.
Before stepping into recruit training, Cathy served as a police reservist attached to the Water Police Directorate. Though already part of the force, there was a greater calling ahead of her—to become a regular police officer. That vision was strongly encouraged by her husband, First Constable Gabriel Kagl Tei, who also stood as her drills and fi****ms instructor during her training.
For Cathy, this journey was more than just training—it was personal. After giving birth to their first-born daughter through a cesarean section, she faced physical pain and limitations. She could not move freely or carry heavy loads due to her healing wounds. It was a challenging period that could have easily broken her spirit. But through it all, her husband stood firmly by her side.
Gabriel was more than just an instructor—he was her pillar of strength. He supported her through her recovery, encouraged her to stay focused, and reminded her of the purpose she was working toward. His guidance, discipline, and belief in her capabilities pushed Cathy to rise above her struggles and continue pressing forward.
Training days were tough, filled with sweat, discipline, and moments of doubt. Yet Cathy never gave up. She carried not only her dreams but also the hopes of her family. With every march, every drill, and every challenge, she proved her strength—not just as a recruit, but as a mother, a wife, and a future officer.
Now, as the passing-out parade approaches, Cathy Gundu stands ready to wear the beautiful blue uniform with pride. She will march out in flying colors, a symbol of courage and determination, stepping into her role as a regular police officer.
Beside her story is a powerful image—a memory captured in time. Cathy, dressed in her khaki recruit uniform, stands beside her instructor, her husband, father of her kid.
