From BPO to remote work, and now building something of my own. ❤️
If you told me years ago that I’d be working remotely, helping businesses behind the scenes, and building my own brand, I probably wouldn’t have imagined how I’d get here.
I started working in 2009 while I was still a student. I worked in BPO, handling technical support calls and chats—not just to support my studies, but also to help my family. As the eldest of three siblings, I learned early that responsibility sometimes comes before comfort.
Life took me to Dubai, where I had to adjust to a new environment and even take a job outside the field I studied. Eventually, I started a family, returned to the Philippines, tried running a family carwash business, and went back to BPO.
Hindi naging straight line ang journey ko. There were changes, challenges, and moments when I had to start over and figure things out again.
Then came an opportunity that changed the direction of my career: part-time social media scheduling, followed by customer support for an online learning business.
Little by little, I learned more than customer support. I learned course operations, student access and enrollment, website updates, platforms, CRM, GoHighLevel, workflows, and automation.
And one of the things I appreciated most about remote work? I could build my skills and earn while being more present for my family, especially while my daughter was growing up.
That doesn't mean freelancing is easy. It's not. You have to keep learning, adapt when things change, and accept that sometimes you'll feel like a beginner all over again.
But I learned that you don't need to have everything figured out before you take the next step. Sometimes, you just need to be willing to learn and keep going.
Today, I'm continuing to grow through my work while building Després & Co.—a business rooted in course operations and growing toward better digital systems, workflows, and automation.
I'm still learning. Still improving. Still figuring things out.
And that's part of what I want to share here.
Not just the wins, but also the lessons behind them. The work behind the scenes. The reality of building a career while raising a family. And what it looks like to grow into something new, one skill at a time.
If you're a working parent, a breadwinner, or someone trying to build a better future through remote work, I hope you know this:
You don't have to have the whole journey figured out. You just have to keep taking the next step.
