Everyone in the COMMunity knows about Ma’am Kaye’s 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 and 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴. From her years of mentoring and shaping BA Communication students and White & Blue campus journalists, to her nationally-recognized food writing pieces such as “Sinanglaw for Breakfast” and “Pakbet: The Kumintang of the Women in Santa Maria”, all the way to her selection as a SUSI Scholar for Journalism, Technology & Democracy which expands her passion into global initiatives. Somehow, that’s just scratching the surface. If we’d go even deeper, this would look like a resume, and that’s not the point. What truly stands out is the 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 she commands.

However, even with such a storied portfolio of work, she remains humble, 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 for the future of BA Communication students at SLU. She sees the potential in all of us, and never hesitates to give praises to those who deserve some.

Most importantly, she still believes in BA Communication, or humans in general. We have to face it, a lot of careers and opportunities, specifically ones that are rooted in our program, are at risk due to the advent of AI. But Ma’am Kaye maintains that “good communicators will always be needed — 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘸” due to AI’s limitations.

Aldrick Agpaoa: Among the 281 Who Completed All 82 Provinces of the Philippines

In a country made up of more than 7,000 islands, traveling across every province is no small feat. Yet for Aldrick Agpaoa, it became a life mission, one that placed him among the 281 known individuals who have successfully visited all 82 provinces of the Philippines.

His journey began on March 25, 2011, when he first set foot in Cebu and Bohol. What started as a personal desire to explore gradually turned into a deeper pursuit: to see the Philippines beyond its postcard beauty and to understand the stories behind each destination.

For over 15 years, he traveled across mountains, islands, cities, and remote communities, experiencing the unique culture of every province. His goal was not just to complete a list, but to immerse himself in the diversity that defines the Filipino identity.

On April 1, 2026, his journey reached its final chapter in Batanes. With that, he officially became one of the 281 finishers who have completed all 82 provinces of the Philippines, a milestone achieved by only a small number of travelers.

But for Aldrick, the journey was never about numbers. Along the way, he discovered the true essence of the Philippines: a nation rich not only in natural beauty, but in the character of its people. He witnessed resilience in communities facing hardships, warmth in strangers who became friends, and joy in places where simplicity thrives.

He also observed the challenges, particularly in tourism infrastructure, but these did not overshadow the experience. Instead, they made each destination feel more authentic, more real, and more meaningful.

Through his travels, Aldrick came to appreciate that the Philippines is a country of contrasts, imperfect, yet deeply beautiful. Every province offered something unique, something worth remembering, and something worth loving.

Now, as one of the few who have completed this extraordinary journey, he shares a message to aspiring travelers: take the risk or lose the chance. The future is uncertain, but the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow is always within reach.

His story stands as a testament to passion, perseverance, and a deep love for country. And in the end, his greatest discovery was not just the Philippines itself, but the spirit that makes it truly unforgettable.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Panagbenga Flower Festival, carrying the theme “Blooming Without End.” On February 28 and March 1, the festival reached its much-awaited weekend highlights — the Grand Street Dance Parade and the Grand Floral Float Parade — drawing thousands to the streets of Baguio City.
