DOLE GUIDELINES ON WORK SUSPENSION IN PRIVATE SECTOR DUE TO WEATHER DISTURBANCES
The Department of Labor and Employment issued Labor Advisory No. 14 series of 2026 dated Aug. 19, 2026 spelling out guidelines on the suspension of work in the private sector due to weather disturbances and similar occurrences.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong has suspended face-to-face classes from Preschool to Grade 12 in both public and private schools on Monday, August 17, 2026 due to the Yellow Rainfall Warning issued by PAGASA.

To ensure learning continuity, schools shall implement the appropriate alternative delivery modalities, including:
• Modular Distance Learning
• Online Distance Learning
• Blended Learning, where applicable

Public schools shall implement the appropriate HINAY Protocol in accordance with Department of Education (DepEd) guidelines to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of learning.

The public is advised to remain vigilant and monitor official weather and safety advisories. In case of emergencies, call 911.

The 2nd Saturday of CordiCon featured an enriching afternoon of learning and sharing on zine-making, self-publishing, and the mindful use of technology. ✍️📚✨

🎤 Aris Remolino — Know the Art of Zine Making
Aris shared his journey in self-publishing, with several books to his name, including translations and reprints, and talked about why writing matters. He also showcased some of his zines, featuring compelling content and illustrations.

🎤 Lean Borlongan — Empower Yourself to Self-Publishing
Lean explored how writers can take ownership of their stories and publishing journey. He discussed different ways to publish in the Philippine setting and shared practical tips on finding funding to support self-publishing.

🎤 Liezl Dunuan — Think Before You Generate
Liezl reminded us that while AI is a powerful tool, human intelligence comes first. AI cannot fully describe our lived experiences, memories, and perspectives. The tool should serve us—not replace our thinking.
