Escalators: if you’re on the downward escalator, you’ll go nowhere even if you’re walking up.

Nung kabataan ko back in the 80’s, we would sometimes go sa Landmark Supermarket in Makati. Paborito naming ginagawang magkakapatid is kapag yung walkalator pababa, tapos susubukan naming umakyat. Or kung hindi naman, walk in position para mukhang stand still ka lang. Fast forward to today, ganun din ang hilig na ginagawa ng mga kids ko.

After all, bata pa kasi, madami pang energy. Hehe.

But now I’m realizing that one’s social environment also works that way.

When I was doing my IBMC training, one very important question came up:

“What if 1 year from now, meron ka nang consistent P50k a month extra earnings from selling digital products?”

Napa-isip talaga ako nun. And for me, having an extra P50k a month means being able to move to the South, para mas malapit na kami sa school ng mga bata.

For now kasi, malayo pa kami nakatira. The kids have to wake up 5:30am para lang makaabot sa 7:30am na pasukan sa school. I would stay the whole day na in the area kasi laking gastos sa time at gas kung uuwi pa ako at babalik na naman uli. Tapos makaka-uwi kami late na ng hapon, with barely enough time or energy to do homework or other activities.

So why not ipasok na lang yung kids sa school na mas malapit? It’s because I really like the schools that they’re in. Not just because of the quality education the schools offer, but more importantly, the values and character formation for my kids… what kind of persons they would grow up to be. Kaya sinisikap ko talagang masigurado ang continued education nila with those schools.

And being able to live in the South because of the extra P50k a month would be a tremendous help for my kids’ schooling, and provide me and my family more time freedom.

So dahil nag re-open ang IBMC and I’ve posted a lot about it already…
