Worms to combat plastic waste!

Meet USC’s newest eco-heroes: mealworms. The WormTech Project is transforming waste management and shaping a sustainable community.

This initiative, launched through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of San Carlos, KILSA Global, and Mealworms Clean the Earth (MCE) Inc., harnesses the natural degrading abilities of Tenebrio molitor (yellow mealworm) to convert plastic and organic waste into useful by-products.

This aligns with the University’s sustainability roadmap—reducing environmental impact while creating practical, scalable solutions that communities can adopt.
