𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

Based on the latest advisory from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) as of 4:00 PM today, September 6, the air quality in Metro Cebu has improved significantly, but it has not yet returned to normal.

The latest reading shows a PM2.5 Air Quality Index (AQI) of 136, classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.” This is already a big improvement from the much higher levels we experienced in the past few days, but we should still remain cautious.

According to EMB guidelines, children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and those with heart or lung conditions should still avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities.

Fortunately, according to our Department of Education (DepEd) Talisay Division, End of Term na ta karon nga period, meaning wala nay regular classes ang atong mga bata, except for those under the ARAL Program or Literacy Remedial Classes.

Since the ARAL Program or Literacy Remedial Classes are conducted indoors, these may continue.

We will also continue with the scheduled Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), Division Festival of Talents (DFOT), and Division Science and Technology Fair, since these activities are being conducted indoors as well.

For private schools and Talisay City College, the decision regarding their classes and activities will remain under the discretion of their respective school administrators.

For everyone, especially our sensitive groups, please continue to limit unnecessary outdoor activities. Improving na gyud ang situation, but we are not yet at “Fair” or “Good” air quality.

FOR A QUICK SUMMARY

Padayon ug mu push through ang ARAL Program, Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), Division Festival of Talents (DFOT), and Division Science and Technology Fair.

Regular classes in our public schools are already on End of Term, so wala nay regular classes ang mga bata.

For private schools and Talisay City College, the decision will be under the discretion of their respective school administrators.

I know many of our students are already in school. Earlier, we could not suspend classes because there was no official basis to do so.

However, as of the 1:04 PM PAGASA update, Talisay City has been placed under a Yellow Rainfall Warning, allowing us to make the necessary decision.

After coordinating with our CDRRMO and DepEd, we are recommending early dismissal in all public schools should heavy rains begin to affect our area.

For Talisay City College and all private schools, the decision on early dismissal will remain with their respective school administrations.
