This is very important to add to the design contract. ​ Suppose your client leaves without completing or properly terminating the project. ​ In that case, they cannot use your design because you have not relinquished the rights to them.
​
Here's what I do: I have indicated in the design contract that the copyright is transferred once they have the signed "Transfer of Copyright" file. ​ It is included with the industry-standard final files after receiving the final payment.

Logo Design Tip: Use another set of eyes to view your design.​

Well, with all the design groups around social media, I'm pretty sure most of us have trusted colleagues. ​ Why not ask them for a second opinion on your logo design?​
​
Of course, don't forget to keep the client information confidential.​
​
Try checking with some trusted peers about what they see in your work. ​ Chances are, they might see something that you could not see as you are too immersed in the project.​
​
Design agencies have been posting their works on the wall and letting the whole team look at them from their perspective. ​ I have been a freelancer most of my design career, so I haven't experienced working with an entire creative team yet. ​ I just saw them do it in videos. ​ ✌​
​
The example in the image is a pagoda silhouette in front of a rising sun, but others don't see it that way. ​ What do you see? ​ Let me know how creative and imaginative you are in the comments! ​

Many people still need to learn the importance of a down payment on a project. ​ It is vital in determining if a client is committed to completing the project. ​ Also, it builds trust, which is a good foundation for a successful collaboration between the client and the designer.

What is a graphic designer?

What is a graphic designer? ​ People think it's just as simple as somebody who designs graphics based on the client's requirements or anything that looks visually good.​
​
But it wasn't really as simple as that. ​ Like Sagi Haviv stated in his Domestika course: "Logo Design: From Concept to Presentation," we have to be good at many things to be a graphic designer.​
​
"They have no idea how many things we have to be good at.​
We have to be good at drawing.​
We have to be good at computers.​
But we also have to be good at coming up with ideas - that is the heart of what we do.​
We have to be good at relationships with clients.​
We have to be good at running a business.​
We have to be good at solving problems.​
We have to be good at reading and writing.​
We have to be good at typography.​
We have to be good at disagreeing with clients sometimes - sometimes, the best work we can do comes out of pushing back on a client.​
We have to deliver things on time.​
And we have to have good taste.​
All these things are part of being a great graphic designer." (Haviv, 0:26)​

3 Joints Fried Chicken House is an established chicken joint based in Cavite, Philippines.
​
The initial plan is to have a chicken mascot doing the number 3 hand sign. ​ However, we pushed back because our design study suggested their fried chicken joint didn't need a personality and focused appeal to children. ​ Instead, we did a sociable and recognizable fried chicken joint logo.
​
The new 3 Joints Fried Chicken House logomark is a less-complicated version of the client's idea. ​ Instead of a mascot, it is a number 3 hand sign with the features of a chicken head. ​ It is designed with a cartoon-like vibe that suggests fun and friendliness. ​ To boost these attributes even more, we used upbeat shades of red and yellow for the color palette.
​
The hand sign is emphasized - for many people, it means "good" and "delicious" if referring to food. ​ Indeed, that approach made the logomark feel iconic.
