AI Auto Replies in pages: Who Is Really Responsible?
Many businesses today use automated replies or AI tools in their pages to respond quickly to customer inquiries. While automation can be helpful, it’s important to remember one key principle in digital marketing and customer service: AI is a tool, not the decision-maker.
Recently, I heard about a situation where a customer ordered food for an event through a page and communicated via Messenger. The order had a down payment, but on the day of the event, the service was not delivered. The explanation given was that AI may have confirmed the order in Messenger.
From a digital marketing and customer experience perspective, this is not acceptable.
Here are important things businesses should remember:
✔ AI is a tool, not accountability. - Automation helps manage messages, but the responsibility still belongs to the business owner.
✔ Messenger conversations must be monitored. - Businesses should regularly check and review automated conversations.
✔ Order confirmations should come from a human. - For payments, bookings, or important transactions, a clear human confirmation protects both the business and the client.
Automation can improve efficiency, but trust and accountability must always come first.
