Video editors, you're not stuck because of your skills. You're stuck because of your title.

Nobody wakes up wanting smooth transitions. They want more views, more leads, more sales, and their time back.

Sell editing and you're replaceable. Sell the outcome and price stops being the conversation.

Comment FIRE and I'll send you the questions I ask clients to find the outcome they actually want.

STOP studying flashy effects, START studying sound 🎧

You can't smell or taste through a screen.
You get sight and hearing.

Most editors spend everything on one.

Ambient bed. Low riser before the reveal. Levels that don't peak.

Close your eyes and listen to your last edit. If you still feel the story, you're directing emotions, not cutting clips.

Try it and tell me what you heard.

This background isn't real. Neither was Paris 🇫🇷

How to turn a tiny studio into any location using AI and a green screen:
Green screen behind you, take a reference photo
Upload it to ChatGPT
Prompt any background you want, then prompt again to push it to 4K
Download, send to your editor, and you've got 5 locations without leaving your room.

Save this before your next shoot.

HERE are 5 GREEN FLAGS of a high paying video editing client ✅

✅ They pay before you start.
✅ Feedback comes in one message.
✅ They let you edit.
✅ They refer you without being asked.
✅ Their business runs on the content.

4 out of 5? Protect that client.

A flat no is easy. It's final, you feel it, you move on.

"Not yet" is sneakier. It never feels final, so it never feels like it counts. And that’s the trap. It feels like you're keeping your options open, when really you're just letting them go... SLOWLY

I catch myself doing it with content. Some days I'm ready to shoot, then I go, nah, tomorrow. Tomorrow something comes up, so I push it again, and it just keeps sliding. Until I've somehow chosen not to do it without ever actually choosing.

I see it happen to coaches too. Someone's ready to hire, but the only one who feels familiar is the coach they've watched on video for months. So that's who they pick. Not (necessarily) the better one. The one who showed up enough to feel like a friend.

Some people aren’t winning because they're better. They're winning because they didn't wait.

What are you still saying "tomorrow" to?

The most important skill for a video editor isn't editing.

It's COMMUNICATION.

When a client sends footage, don't just say thanks and start working. Ask what style they want, what they're picturing, and whether you can see the script.

Overcommunicating has never lost me a client. It's what makes them trust me.

Save this before your next project.

3 THINGS Clients actually PAY for as a video editor 💸

Clarity: name their problem before they can, then fix it.

Communication: update them before they ask. Clients who never chase you come back.

Common sense: hit deadlines, read the brief, think one step ahead.

That last one is the skill nobody brags about but everybody pays for.

Save this if you're building your video editing career.

The edit is the difference. 🎬

Same expertise. Same face. Same phone camera. One founder's content gets studied and shared — the other stays invisible. The gap isn't talent, it's the edit.

If you've got the knowledge but your content isn't moving, you don't need to be louder or post more. You need the right person behind the edit.

DM me the word "EDIT" and let's get started. 👇

Stop obsessing over trends and the "perfect" time to post. What actually grows your personal brand is the boring stuff done well: scripting a well thought-out message, opening with an outlier hook that earns attention, showing your face consistently so people recognize you, and editing with clean cuts and rhythm so nothing gets in the way of your point.

Nail those and reach takes care of itself. Great content spreads because it's valuable and well made, not because you caught a trend or hit some magic posting window.

People rarely buy from a brand they see once. They buy from the brand they can't stop seeing.
