I always try to push my clients to never stick with just "can you do it like this? (referring to a photo for the project)". Because in a designers mind we think that Good design will always overcome Good graphics in the long run. All categories of graphic design is too much to explain let us stick to one, logos. A logo with no connection, background or any sort of relevance to your business is not a good logo. How much did you payed for it last time? Now you should be thinking twice and asses current your logo. Ask yourself is it effective? What do people think about it? (Because design or any creative work here in the Philippines is highly underrated). Your logo is the mark that the people will remember "it's you".
Marty Nuemeier a marketing strategist said beauty with no concept is not design, unless it is an artwork. All Logos must have a concept if you want it to be beautiful and effective that's why there is a process that happens during its creation. And that is why you must value your logo and invest in it, not only logo but to any design projects.
You as a gesigner, you must help out your client to solve their problems, dont be the problem. Don't make it worst by just doing a "bahala na" job. If you are a true deaigner you must ask you clients ideas and collaborate with them so that both of you will have the same wavelength designing the project.
These are just some thoughts of mine while listening to Marty. I recommend following him if you are a designer to any forms of medium.
