When I started, I thought being a social media manager was about making content look good.

It’s not.

It’s about understanding someone’s business well enough to talk to their audience in a way that actually makes people care.

It’s about strategy, not just aesthetics. Messaging, not just posting.

If you’re in this field and feeling like you’re faking it, you’re probably just in the learning phase. Keep going. 💪

Ended up withdrawing my application after the final interview due to some incompatibilities but overall, good interview skills exercise!

This was the first out of the 3 interviews I had so far, just recorded this one to look back on what more can I improve :)

Last time I had an interview was 8 months ago so this was a good challenge!

The clips you see are just the highlights of the interview, ofc there were other more questions. Compensation and benefits were also discussed. Overall, the interview lasted for about 30 minutes.

Interviews are nerve-wracking but also find it exciting! Will be sharing some interview tips based on my experience on Day 9!

93% of recruiters use LinkedIn to find candidates. If yours isn’t optimized, you’re invisible.

- Photo. Current headshot. Head, neck, shoulders. Look approachable, not stiff. No group pics, no vacation shots.

- Banner. Replace the default blue. Use Canva to make one that shows what you do. It’s free real estate.

- Headline. This is where recruiters find you. Be specific: what you do + who you help. Skip “passionate professional.”

- About. Tell your story, don’t just list skills. Recruiters use Boolean searches (they type keywords into the search bar) so weave relevant keywords in naturally. Bonus: you can use your CV summary as a starting point.

- Experience. Never leave job descriptions blank. Check 5-10 job listings for your target role, note the common keywords, and add them to your descriptions. Don’t copy your CV. Expand on it.

- Skills. Remove what’s irrelevant. Add skills that match your target roles. Check those same job listings for the skills that keep showing up. Recruiters filter by these.

- Services. If you’re freelancing too, add a service page and link your portfolio. Let clients find you without leaving LinkedIn.

My favorite tools I use every day. 🤓 These tools have helped me be organized and stay on top of all my projects! You can definitely use the free versions of these especially if you’re just getting started.

Other tools I use:
— Google Drive: where I organize all personal brand and client files
— Asana: for team collaboration and tracking of project status
— Loom: recording tutorials for teammates and sending quick video updates
— GHL Social Planner, Social Champ, and Meta Business Suite: scheduling tools that are easy to navigate
— Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp: communication tools
— Calendly: for booking discovery call schedules
— Linktree: where I organize all important links (Calendly link, portfolio, services guide, etc.)
