Entrepreneurs Aren't Born, They're Made
_________________________________
There is this idea that to be a successful entrepreneur it has to be in your blood, that you have to be born with the skills that will allow you to flourish in life as an entrepreneur. If you arenβt lucky enough to be one of those people then there isnβt much you can do: you just werenβt born to be an entrepreneur. Well, this idea is not only narrow minded but now is proven to be scientifically inaccurate.
The Mindset of Growth Study was conducted to test this idea that people with entrepreneurial success were simply born with innate skills that allowed them to excel in business. What was discovered was that the key attributes of entrepreneurial success in fact came from learned skills. This of course means that anyone willing to put in the work can learn those same skills.
Market expertise was found to have the greatest impact on a personβs abilities as an entrepreneur and is developed over time. If you want to develop market expertise you can read books, attend seminars and workshops, talk to people who have already gained the knowledge you are seeking, among countless other strategies. This is not something you can be born with but something you can cultivate over time.
Other key aspects of those people with abilities associated with successful entrepreneurship are a positive attitude towards selling and effective decision-making. While these traits might come more naturally to some of us than others, again we can practice and cultivate these traits. Spending time with people who already possess such traits is a great way to have some of that rub off, as we begin to emulate the people we spend time around.
Whatever your situation in life, whatever skills and knowledge you have, you are able to take steps each day that will bring you towards being a better educated, more resourceful, and more successful entrepreneur.
