Together with our friends from the Iloilo National High School Batch 2005 Besties, our team at Dame Digital co-organized a gift-giving event for the benefit of students at Layog Elementary School in Barangay Layog, Maasin, Iloilo on Saturday, Dec. 21.
We are fortunate to have been given the chance to give back to this community, which has a special place in the heart of our founder and CEO, Jenille (and to ours as well).
This event, held as a surprise during the schoolโs Christmas Party and Family Day, filled the day with youthful laughs, cheers, and well-wishes that made everyone feel loved, appreciated, and fulfilled.
About 170 learnersโbasically the entire student bodyโfrom this humble upland primary school were given gifts that, we hope, will reward them for all their good deeds and hard work at school, give them hope and encouragement to do better, and prove to them at wishes do come true.
This would not be possible without our dear donors from all walks of lifeโfrom hardworking professionals to K-pop fans, from family men and women to creative individualsโwhose generous hearts motivate us to sustain initiatives that make days happier and life a little bit easier for other people.
Their donations, from school supplies and clothing to toys and educational materials, put big surprised smiles on the faces of the students and their parents and teachers.
We are also grateful to have worked with the Iloilo National High School Batch 2005 Besties. They are a group of friends who have been doing this annually since 2016 to spread joy and, hopefully, alleviate the challenges of identified disadvantaged groups and communities.
The time, effort, and resources that they have put into making this happenโreaching out to donors, gathering and packing the gifts, and making time to be with the learnersโare beyond any form of appreciation that we can give.
Special thanks to our Bangkok-based friend and Besties member, Aileen Marcelino a.k.a. Marci, for walking the extra mile in remotely facilitating pre-event activities despite the distance. We hope your birthday, the same day as the gift-giving, was extra special and remarkable.
