100 days of content, one video at a time. This week was about the real cost of buying email lists.

What should I cover next? A few ideas I'm considering:

- How to actually warm up a domain the right way

- What good cold email copy looks like versus what gets you flagged as spam

- How to know if your deliverability is quietly getting worse

This week's video was about something I see all the time in this industry: the pressure to move fast versus the discipline to build something real.

Buying a list feels like catching up. It's actually borrowing trust you never earned, and discovering too late that trust doesn't transfer. It has to be earned, one relationship at a time.

That's the whole game in cold email. Not the size of the list you can buy. The size of the list you actually earned.

Speed without trust isn't actually speed. It's debt you pay later, with interest.

One list you build slowly, one real contact at a time, protects the one thing you can't buy back once it's gone: your reputation as a sender people actually want to hear from.

Here's the part that really hurts. The damage from a bought list doesn't stay with that list.

It follows your domain into every email you send after, including the real prospects. The ones who actually wanted to hear from you. The ones your team spent real time researching.

The shortcut meant to save you months ends up costing you months instead.

Here's what actually happens after a bought list lands in your inbox tool.

A huge chunk of those 50,000 emails are already wrong. Old jobs, old companies, addresses that don't exist anymore. A wave of your emails instantly bounce.

Gmail and Yahoo notice. And that's just the beginning of the damage.

I broke down exactly what happens next in this week's video. Worth watching before your next campaign.

You're under pressure. Your boss wants leads this week, not next quarter.

Researching companies one by one. Finding the right person. Writing something worth reading. That takes time you feel like you don't have.

So someone in the meeting says it: "Why don't we just buy a list?"

And suddenly the math looks amazing.

Somewhere right now, a marketing team is buying a list. 50,000 emails, job titles, company names. One click, all at once, all for sales.

They know the warnings. They read the headlines about fines. They heard the horror stories about spam folders. And they buy it anyway.

Why do smart people keep making the same mistake, year after year? I made a video about it.

Curious how others handle this:

When a deal stalls on price, do you ever push back and dig into the real hesitation, instead of just offering a discount?

Or does the discount usually win because it's faster?

Tell me in the comments. Might turn the best answers into the next video.

I used to see a closed deal as a closed deal. Full stop.

It took me a while to notice the pattern underneath: the deals I discounted to close were almost always the ones that gave me the most trouble later. Slower to onboard. Quieter at renewal. First to churn.

I don't think the price was ever really the issue on those deals. I think I just answered the wrong question. I answered "how do I get this closed today" instead of "what are they actually unsure about."

Cheaper to close. More expensive to keep. That's the trade nobody puts in the proposal.
