How I combined Sales and Marketing with Designing
“So who else wants to know the most effective ways to sales and marketing?” Dan, my mentor asked us. “Me mentor, I want to learn to be an effective sales leader and marketer.” I replied. That answer is the best thing I did since I started working way back 2007. I was just re-hired as the branch head of one of the biggest motorcycle distributor in the country. My mentor taught me the shortcuts to selling and the simplest effective marketing approaches. He said that when I use the word “I will help you” and “to save your time” it is like a magic seed to the customers’ ears. Customers love people who respects their time. He also told me NOT to focus my energy on marketing and acquiring for new customers, but to focus more on taking care of my present clients. To always make sure that my current and past clients are well taken care of. That you who takes good care of your clients will be learned by other prospect customers, driving them to you. He said “New customers will always come to you because you know how to take care of your other customers.” He was right. Sales on my first month as branch head improved by 400 percent. On my third month, sales rose to 600 percent. He taught me lot of things, and all this things I want to share with my clients--for free.
Growing up, I am that boy in the corner of the class room, drawing all the time. I am always sketching while my classmates socialized. I was ready to take Fine Arts on college, but since it was too expensive for my parents, I have no choice but to take up accounting at a college near our house. I honestly do not feel sorry for myself when I graduated, since accounting opened my eyes in business. It is easy for me to see a business flow and how a business works because of accounting. On my job, as a sales branch head, I was always daydreaming of designing and drawing as my business. Everyday. Almost every time. And, although I know a lot about selling and marketing, I decided to shift my career to graphic designing.
I self-studied adobe photoshop way back 2010. And then self-studied adobe illustrator right after. I was already doing some side income through graphic designing by that time and I am really excited whenever I get new projects. When I resigned and started my freelance business by 2015, I chose Logo designing as my primary service. Since Logos amazes me because of what it brings and its impact. I began creating unique logos and started receiving good number of projects. I now have my own graphic studio and also started offering souvenir and corporate giveaways. (Extra tip: There is a proven strategy on how to effectively give freebies to clients that can actually double your sales. I promise you there is. It was my bread and butter when I got that 600percent increase in sales. PM me if you want to learn it. It hard for me to explain it in writing.)
Today, my only focus is to help my clients get what they want, to get more leads and produce more sales through my designs and corporate giveaways. My personal mission is to make graphic designs that are effective in selling and marketing. Some graphic artist focus a lot on their design, I focus more on the effect of my design to my client’s prospects. It has to have the element of a great design, but more importantly it has to have effective words of sales and marketing to work and meet its true purpose. This is the longest I have written since like forever. Thank you always for your time.
