Tubbataha Dive sites
Here is a selection of some of our most popular dive sites that we like to visit during our Tubbataha trips.
DELSAN WRECK - SOUTH ATOLL -
One of the best dive sites in Tubbataha with big schools of big-eyed trevally, yellowtail barracuda, great barracuda, dogtooth tuna, giant trevally together with grey reef sharks and white tip reef sharks.
BLACK ROCK - SOUTH ATOLL -
There is so much to explore at this dive site that we will often spend the whole day diving here. Schools of surgeon fish, rainbow runners and sweetlips are a common sight. White tip and nurse sharks are found resting under huge table corals and scribbled filefish, box fish and leaf fish add to the colour and spectacle of the stunning reefs; a great site for spotting spiny lobster too!
WASHING MACHINE - NORTH ATOLL -
All manner of colourful reef fish form schools here. From big-eye jacks to tiny orange & purple anthias all are creating a welcoming atmosphere. Spot the tiny creatures including cowries wedge themselves amidst the leather corals. It is a great site for turtles, and whale sharks have also been spotted here.
NORTH EAST WALL - NORTH ATOLL -
Adorned with stunning sea fans and colourful soft corals, North East wall is super for wide-angle photography. Schools of bannerfish hove in the blue, turtles bimble along the wall and from the sandy bed garden eels and gobies emerge.
MALAYAN WRECK, NORTH ATOLL
This reef is the habitat for different trevallies, barracudas, bumphead parrotfish, juvenile grey reef sharks with the usual suspects darting around. Marbled stingrays can sometimes hang out here.
ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS
Reached only by liveaboard, the Tubbataha Reef is located bang in the middle of the Sulu sea and is home to the very best diving found anywhere in the Philiipines.
The highest marine biodiversity on earth, simply astonishing.
Pelagics often seen including hammerheads, threshers and whale sharks.
Nesting site for hawksbill and green turtles and many species of bird
The reefs are made up of endless reef flats and vertical walls dropping to over 100m in depth
One of the best dive experiences you can have.
ITINERARY DESCRIPTION
DAY 1
Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork, Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departing the Harbour.
During the journey to our first dive site for a check dive, please take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel and make yourself comfortable.
Please Note: This is a sample itinerary and nº of dives, dive sites, etc. may be subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforseeable factors
DAY 2 - 6
The Tubbataha has become well known as the very best of the Philippines diving
The park itself is made up of two coral atolls - the north atoll and south atoll - and the Jessie Beazley reefs located a little further north.
These reefs are home to a very high density and biodiversity of marine life and thus a diver's absolute paradise!
Thresher sharks, hammerheads and whale sharks can be seen on the walls, whilst the shallow reef tops are overflowing with colour reef fish, sting rays, manta rays, turtles and much more.
Huge schools of jack fish and snapper hang out with a large barracuda presence as well.
Diving can be challenging in the Tubbataha and there is only a small period from March to early June that the liveaboards can actually get out there when the sea conditions are calm enough
Dive sites include Washing Machine, where many shark species can be sighted in the speedy current, the Delsan Wreck - now home to a plethora of reef fish and white tip reeef sharks as well as Amos' Rock.
Seafan Alley is where huge sea fans adorn the reef walls whilst Staghorn Point boasts fields of staghorn corals.
Divers can expect to see stunning corals, schools of jacks, numerous reef sharks, marble rays, blue spotted sting rays, turtles, unicorn andtriggerfishes in schools.
There are a wide variety of smaller creatures from sea cucumbers to coral crabs, ghost pipefish to sea stars, crinoids with cling fish and pygmy seahorses.
DAY 7
