Plastic doesn’t just disappear.

Plastic is useful, but when it’s thrown away carelessly, it harms the environment, pollutes our waters, endangers animals, and can affect human health. Here are the 3 main impacts:

🌊 1. It pollutes the ocean. Plastic waste can enter rivers and seas, damaging marine ecosystems.
🐢 2. It harms wildlife. Animals may mistake plastic for food or get trapped in plastic waste.
⏳ 3. It takes years to break down. Many plastic products take hundreds of years to decompose.

The good news is that small choices make a difference. Reducing plastic use is one simple way to protect the earth, and plastic that’s collected properly doesn’t have to become pollution.

At ACTS for Change, we collect recyclable plastic waste so it can be turned into something useful. Bring us your clean, dry plastic, and keep it out of our rivers, seas, and surroundings.

Ang plastik dili mawala lang. Atong tabangan ang kalikopan. (Plastic doesn’t just disappear. Let’s help our environment.)

Rethink plastic. Restore nature.

Plastic is part of our daily life, but small changes can make a big difference. Where our plastic goes after we use it is up to us.

At ACTS for Change, we collect recyclable plastic waste so it can be turned into something useful, including shelter materials made from recycled soft plastic. What looks like trash to some can become something that helps a community.

Here’s how you can start:
1️⃣ Rethink: Say no to single-use plastic when you can. Bring a reusable bottle and bag.
2️⃣ Reuse: Give bottles and containers a second use before they’re discarded.
3️⃣ Return: Bring your clean, dry plastic bottles to us. We’ll recycle them.

Every bottle counts. Every community can make a change. At ACTS for Change, we believe waste has value and communities have power. Mabini, Bohol, let’s restore nature together.

How many plastic bottles do you have at home? Tell us below, and tag someone who should join!

Used plastic still has value!

That empty bottle or plastic cup doesn't have to end up in a canal, a creek, or the sea. At ACTS for Change, we collect recyclable plastic and work to turn it into something useful.

Here's how you can help:
✅ Collect your used plastic bottles and plastic cups
✅ Rinse them and keep them dry
✅ Bring them to us at LGU, Mabini, Bohol
✅ Or contact us!

Every bottle you give us is waste kept out of the environment and material for something that can help a family or community.

Ang plastik nga gamit na, may bili pa. Hatagi og bag-ong kinabuhi! (Used plastic still has value. Give it new life!)

CLEAN WATER STARTS WITH US. 💧

National agencies have flagged parts of Bohol as water-stressed, with new water projects being planned for the hardest-hit barangays. That makes protecting the water we already have more important than ever.

Our everyday habits affect our water:

🗑️ Don't dump trash in canals, creeks, or the sea. Waste clogs waterways and pollutes what we drink and fish from.
🌳 Plant trees. Their roots help hold soil and protect water sources.
🪣 Catch rainwater. A simple drum or pail can supply water for plants and cleaning.
♻️ Sort your waste. Less trash in the environment means cleaner water.

The Clean Water Act of 2004 exists to protect our water bodies from pollution, and every household has a part to play.

Limpyo nga palibot, limpyo nga tubig. (Clean surroundings, clean water.)

At ACTS for Change, we believe waste has value and communities have power. Bohol, let's protect our water together. 💚

Plant a tree. Grow a future.

Everyone is talking about the heat. With El Niño already here, hotter, drier days are ahead. One of the simplest ways to help is also one of the oldest: plant a tree.

Trees give shade, keeping homes, schools, and streets cooler.
Plants and trees freshen our surroundings and make a clean place even better to live in.
Every seedling is an investment in the next generation.

You don't need a big space. A shade tree in the yard, fruit trees along the fence, or a few plants at home all count.

Tip: Plant the right tree in the right place. Ask your Municipal Agriculture Office or DENR which species grow well in your area, and water young plants early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Tanom ta karon para sa mas lunhaw nga ugma. (Let's plant now for a greener tomorrow.)

At ACTS for Change, we believe waste has value and communities have power. Mabini, Bohol, let's grow a cooler, cleaner, greener community together.

What will you plant first? Tell us in the comments, and tag a friend who wants to start planting too!

Every piece of waste has its place.

Segregation is the first step to a cleaner community. When we sort our waste at home, we cut down pollution, make recycling easier, and turn waste into something valuable instead of something we throw away.

Start with a simple setup at home:
Biodegradable: food scraps, leaves, peelings (great for composting!)
Recyclable: plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, cans, glass
Residual: items that can't be reused or recycled yet
Hazardous: batteries, bulbs, and chemicals, kept apart and handled with care

Ilha ang basura, tipigi ang palibot. (Sort the waste, protect our surroundings.)

Small habits at home can change a whole community.

Zero-waste living isn't about doing everything perfectly. It's about small choices, repeated every day, by many of us. Swipe through for 5 easy habits you can start today:

♻️ Zero Waste Living: Pick up litter, sort your waste, and grow something green.
🛍️ Reduce Plastic Use: Say no to single-use plastic. Carry a reusable bottle and bag.
🔁 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Give items a second life and sort waste properly.
💧 Save Water: Take shorter showers and turn off the tap while brushing. With El Niño already here, every drop counts.
💡 Conserve Energy: Switch off lights when not in use and unplug devices to save power.

Gamay nga lakang, dako nga kausaban. (Small steps, big change.)
Tipigi ang tubig. Patya ang suga kung dili gamiton. (Save water. Turn off the lights when not in use.)

At ACTS for Change, we believe that waste has value and communities have power. Mabini, Bohol, let's build a cleaner, greener community together. 🌱

El Niño is not coming. It's already here.

PAGASA says a Strong El Niño is active and expected to intensify, possibly reaching Very Strong by the end of 2026 and lasting into the first half of 2027. That means below-normal rainfall, hotter days, and stress on water and food. There may be fewer typhoons, but some can still be very strong.

What can we do today? Save water, protect our farms, plant shade, and keep our surroundings clean. Over the next two weeks, we'll share simple steps for Bohol communities. Be ready because change starts now!

Pag-andam ta. Tipigi ang tubig, tanuman ang palibot. (Let's prepare. Save water, plant around us.)

For official updates, follow PAGASA and your local DRRMO.

Zero waste starts with small choices. ♻️

Waste isn't just something we throw away. It's a resource, and every one of us has the power to give it value.

Here are the 5 Rs of Zero Waste that anyone can start today:

🌱 Reduce: Buy only what you need.
🌱 Refuse: Say no to single-use items and unnecessary packaging.
🌱 Reuse: Use reusable bags, containers, and bottles, and repair before you replace.
🌱 Recycle: Sort your waste properly.
🌱 Rot: Compost food scraps to enrich the soil.

At ACTS for Change, we believe that waste has value and communities have power. Together, we can build cleaner, stronger, zero-waste barangays.

💚 Which of the 5 Rs will you start with? Tell us in the comments!
