I've learned a lot, from recent experience, that we can't be too much in our heads and thinking about ourselves or our situations.

Yes, duh, it's important to think about our problems, why we have them, how we can solve them. But, A lot of the times, we tend to think too much of them and we forget that we aren't the only people in the world or, even worse, we think that we have it way worse than everyone else; which turns us into these selfish, egotistical monsters that—despite having the right to reprieve from their problems—don't seem to want the relief. Constantly lamenting over their own suffering and seemingly never wanting to escape it; lest they lose the attention, the pity, or maybe even just the feeling that their suffering brings them.

And in many ways, we all are like this, in some parts of ourselves, we love the pity, the attention, even if it's just form our own minds. The problem is, once we try to aspire for a better life, a better situation or circumstance, we start to be hypocritical and contradict our own efforts towards that better life. Or at the very least, we create undue resistance to our efforts.

So even before trying to solve your problems, ask yourself, do you really want to solve your problems, or do you want to prove that your problems are unsolvable?

Big difference. Be better.

NEWSFLASH!!! You can't do anything you put your mind to.

Whenever I hear "You can do anything you put your mind to." I think: "that, that is bu****it."

In a coaching call with coach Kia Alvarez-Abrera, she asked us “what is advice that you’ve always heard of that, when you think about it, is total bu****it?”. She then had us brain-dump our answer and whatever comes to mind on a our notebooks. Stream of consciousness type thing, for 5 minutes straight.

And I thought of the OH SO global saying, “you can do anything you put your mind to.”

ABSOLUTE CRAP. It takes so many things to do the hardest things. And the hardest things are usually the best things to do, the things we want to do.

And what I really don’t like with that type of advice is that, typically, we don’t know what “putting your mind into it” means. And when you try to pursue that thing you put your mind to, you end up disappointed, illogically, and irrationally disappointed.

WHAT the quote SHOULD BE is “You can do anything.” PERIODT!

It takes more than your mind, it takes courage, spice, and everything nice.

But you can do it; regardless of what that is.

It takes more than your mind, but you can.

St Matthew and the Angel exactly depicts what writing is for me...

I’m currently prepping for a webinar I’ll be hosting exclusively in a business program I’m a part of. And As I was writing it out, something happened that reaffirmed what I already knew and what I LOVE about writing.

I finished 90% of the slides and script already. And as I got to the end, I was thinking of how to really bring the whole thing home.

I started by explaining a bit of a bird’s eye view of marketing. I went into the main content I was teaching. And now I’m finishing up.

I want to bring my audience back into a big-picture view of marketing and how content fit into that.

A bit of background: I didn’t know what to write at the end AT ALL. I just thought to myself, “I’m going to write, and if it’s bad, I’ll try again.”

I have content from the previous slides so I guess that those helped me too but it felt like being blind at first.

Then I started writing.

And, I don’t know, it felt like the words just poured out of me. It felt like the words just kept entering my mind and making my type.

And remembering this brings to mind what Dr. Jordan B. Peterson said about being in a state of “flow”. Paraphrasing, it goes something like: if you find the one thing that gives you meaning, you’ll have one foot in the known and the other in the unknown. And you’ll be in a state of endless creation. A flow. Time passes faster but you don’t feel it.

This is possible with anything you find meaningful. Writing is one of those things for me, especially if what I’m writing about engages and compels me.

But I also think it’s because of the activity of writing itself.

You see, if you think about it, writing is bringing something out of nothing; order from chaos; a blank page into an important document.

And it felt that way when writing the outline for my webinar.

Just goes to show that, if you align everything just right, it’s like the world bends to your bidding and God gives you superpowers.

A lesson and an opportunity from/for my local clothing/apparel brands:

A business is supposed to solve a problem, not cater to a trend.

Maybe if the trend is a symptom of a problem. But even then, the business has to solve the problem, not the symptom.

A LOT, probably 70% of local clothing brands in my city sell either generic clothes like the Korean-trendy t-shirts with elbow length sleeves (I forgot the term lol), or, even worse, SWEATERS!

If you haven’t been to the Philippines yet, our weather lately has been above 35°C (95°C°F) lately. And, who DAFUQ wears sweaters in that temperature??????

Now, if you want to wear sweaters and long-sleeves in the blazing sun and marinate in your sweat, go right ahead! You do you boo.

But to the local clothing brands, WHERE DAFUQ ARE THE FRESH, cool (temperature ‘cool’, not trendy ‘cool’), and light clothes that are appropriate for the weather and that SO MANY people are looking for????

And yes, it’s a good opportunity for clothing brands to step up and fill the gap. There is a gap. Unlike the Philippines and the Sun, there’s no gap between us anymore.

The conflict in the South China Sea or West Philippine Sea is a GREAT example of how branding and marketing can be used to manipulate.

Despite countless shots fired from our local media to China, China WAS still willing to help development.

I know a lot of people are against Chinese involvement in the Philippines out of fear of debt trapping or whatever their fear is.

But did you know that that actually a complete myth and it's being used to market a false image to you?

Now, to be clear, I'm not pro-China, I'm anti US involvement. WHY? because they've had a bad reputation for a long time. And if anyone wants to help this country aside from the US, it's always been China.

But the public has been led to believe that "Ooo, China good, US bad! Oh NO!" But where do you think that comes from?

And not just that. Some of our own politicians and businessmen have deals, contracts even, that are tied to US involvement in the Philippines.

And those same businessmen, who own the top news and media platforms in the country, are taking over the narrative.

Funny enough, some of these businessmen earn a great deal from business done in China, and yet the Filipino people can't do business with China??????

Das suspicious....Das weird....

BUT MY POINT IS! This is the power of brand perception, and marketing manipulation. We've known this, but we never thought that it could be done with our own brands before.

But you can, and if you're already posting on social media, chances are that you're already building a reputation, a perception, a brand.

And whether that brand is true to you or not, depends on what you put out into the world and how you do so... your marketing.

With the power that can change the state of nations, cause wars, famine, and maybe even genocide, what are you going to do with it?

Now, I don't mean be a fu***ng social justice warrior. But really understand how much opportunity you have in your branding and marketing and take stock of the problems you can solve, the solutions you can give, and THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE.

I decided not to listen to my boss and this happened...

2 years ago, I worked as a call center agent for one of the largest telecommunications company in the US.

My manager told me that I would never succeed because I had this one habit:

I was an overthinker. For the simple reason of me wanting to make sure that what I was doing was correct, that I wasn’t clicking the wrong button and accidentally charging our customers extra or less.

Let's call them manager #1. They thought that that was a negative trait and that I had to get rid of it.

But here’s the funny part, my overthinking was the #1 thing that made me one of the best employees my 2nd manager had, it made the most happy customers, and I was the person with the least, let’s call it, “strikes”.

TAKE THIS AS A SIGN! If you’re afraid, maybe you’ve been told that you’re voice isn’t clear enough, you’re tone is too soft, or your grammar or pronunciation is bad, film, write, POST anyway.

The only type of overthinking that I would tell you to ignore is the type that keeps you from taking action.

Overthink to plan, and plan well, but come time to take action, you TAKE ACTION.

Yes, you can turn overthinking into action taking, It's something that I deal with on a daily basis when I create my own content. And it's a mindset skill that I help my clients with when they're creating content.

It's an important part of content marketing, and marketing in general.

Because if you can't get your mind to do what's best for you, how are you, a problem solver who has the solutions to real problems, ever get that solution out there?

If you have a problem with marketing your business through content or in social media, you HAVE to message me, we HAVE to chat!

Like Zuck here, are you ready to glow up your content marketing game?

I cackled in the middle of the gym when I read that the pic on the right is photoshopped.

Yes, I use my phone during the gym, bite me.

New blog!

I've been having ideas for writing out a whole informal theory about a phenomenon I've been thinking of for a while now. And what I write in this blog nods to that.

Here's a bit from my new blog:
"As I looked at the brighter trees that were picked into view by the moon and the darker shades of the trees that are closer to the center of the park, I thought of how (at the time I thought it was so) forests came to be/started and how it somehow reflected the dichotomy of tradition vs modernity.

But, as I did my research to write this blog, I found out that forests don’t start this straightforwardly, duh. But here me out…"

Read the blog to get the rest of it😁!
