DON'T BUY SOLAR JUST BECAUSE ELECTRICITY IS EXPENSIVE

Before deciding whether solar makes sense for you, start by understanding four things:

1. Consumption
Understand how much electricity you actually use.

2. Bill
Understand what your electricity bill tells you about your energy use and costs.

3. Site
Understand the conditions and available space where the system may be installed.

4. Decision
Understand your options before deciding whether solar is appropriate for your situation.

The point isn't that solar is always the right answer.

The point is that good solar decisions begin with good information.

At Magpet Solar Solutions, we believe clients should have the opportunity to understand their situation and their options before making a major energy decision.

SOLAR IS NOT A MAGIC FIX FOR EVERY ELECTRICITY BILL

Solar can be a useful energy solution, but its performance and potential savings depend on several factors.

These include:

Consumption + System Size + Site + Design + Utility Arrangement

Your electricity consumption, the size of the system, site conditions, system design, and applicable utility arrangement can all affect the outcome.

That is why we believe it is important to understand the factors before making the decision.

There is no single savings percentage or payback period that can responsibly be promised to every customer.

A good solar assessment starts with the actual situation of the property and the client.

120 MW OF GROUND-MOUNTED SOLAR WAS TARGETED FOR MINDANAO UNDER GEA-4

The Department of Energy's Fourth Green Energy Auction (GEA-4) included a 120 MW installation target for ground-mounted solar in Mindanao.

The important word here is target.

The 120 MW figure should not be interpreted as 120 MW of solar capacity already operating in Mindanao. It refers to the installation target included under the GEA-4 auction.

This distinction matters when discussing renewable-energy development: a target is not the same as existing installed capacity.

As Mindanao's energy landscape continues to develop, keeping track of these planned renewable-energy additions helps provide a clearer picture of where the region's power sector is heading.

WHAT DOES ZERO EXPORT MEAN?

In a solar PV system, zero-export control limits electricity sent from the customer's solar system to the utility grid.

The basic concept is:

Solar → Home/Business Loads

while the system is managed so that the indicated export to the grid is:

0 kW EXPORT

Zero export is therefore about controlling electricity export to the grid.

It does not automatically mean that the property will have zero utility consumption or a zero electricity bill.

Whether zero-export operation is possible also depends on the capabilities of the equipment and the overall system design.

THE INVERTER IS A CRITICAL PART OF A SOLAR PV SYSTEM

Solar PV systems generate electrical power that must be appropriately converted and managed for use by the property's AC electrical system and, where applicable, interaction with the grid.

This is where the inverter plays a critical role.

In a simplified system flow:

Solar PV → Inverter → AC Loads / Grid

The inverter therefore forms an important part of the connection between the PV system and the AC electrical system.

Because solar systems differ in their requirements and intended operation, inverter selection should be considered as part of the overall system design rather than treated as a one-size-fits-all decision.

A 10 kW SOLAR SYSTEM DOES NOT PRODUCE 10 kW ALL DAY

A 10 kW figure refers to the solar system's rated capacity.

It does not mean the system will continuously produce 10 kW throughout the day.

Actual solar output changes with sunlight and operating conditions. Solar production typically varies throughout the day, increasing as sunlight becomes available, reaching higher production around stronger solar conditions, and declining as available sunlight decreases.

That's why a system's rated capacity should not be confused with constant or all-day production.

When evaluating solar, it is important to understand what the numbers actually represent.

HOW MUCH SOLAR DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED?

There isn't one solar system size that is appropriate for everyone.

Good system sizing starts with understanding four important things:

1. Consumption
How much electricity are you using?

2. Electricity Bill
What does your actual electricity usage and billing information tell us?

3. Site / Roof
What space and site conditions are available?

4. Operating Goal
What do you want the solar system to accomplish?

The goal is simple:

Size the system from the facts—not a guess.

Good solar planning starts with understanding the property and the client's needs before deciding on a system size.
