How long is too long to stay in a coffee shop?

Is one cup of coffee enough if you’re staying for several hours? What about taking work calls, occupying a larger table, or using the restroom when you’re not a customer?

These were some of the everyday questions I had the opportunity to discuss on NET25’s Kada Umaga, where I was invited as a resource person to talk about Coffee Shop Etiquette.

A quiet café with plenty of available tables is very different from a busy one where customers are waiting for seats. Working quietly on your laptop is different from turning a shared space into your private office. And while an establishment may have its own policies, consideration asks us to think beyond what we are technically allowed to do.
