I’m honestly proud of this one 🥹

In just 5 days, I helped build and refine a modern plumbing website for a UK client — from layout and responsive design to mobile fixes, branding updates, and enquiry setup planning.

What we worked on:

✅ Built a clean plumbing website inspired by a client reference
✅ Created service pages and linked submenu pages properly
✅ Improved the homepage layout, service cards, reviews, contact section, and CTAs
✅ Removed services the client does not offer yet, like boilers
✅ Updated the website to match the client’s logo with a black, red, and white theme
✅ Fixed mobile hamburger menu behavior and scrolling
✅ Improved mobile header, logo visibility, and tap target sizes
✅ Fixed active menu states and submenu hover issues
✅ Removed obvious location-changing UI so the location feature feels more natural
✅ Improved FAQ structure so general FAQs do not repeat service-page FAQs
✅ Checked the site across multiple mobile screen sizes
✅ Prepared the enquiry flow so website submissions can be saved to Google Sheets and trigger email alerts through Zapier

This project reminded me how much small details matter.

A button that is too small.
A menu item that stays highlighted.
A logo that is hard to read on mobile.
A form field overflowing by a few pixels.

These things may look minor, but they affect trust, usability, and whether a visitor actually sends an enquiry.

And the part that might surprise people?

I charged £125 for this project.

Not because that is what the work is worth, but because this was an introductory project rate and an opportunity to build trust with a new client.

A thought: Should there be a law against fake job postings?

Job hunting is already challenging. Many applicants spend hours customizing resumes, preparing portfolios, and attending interviews — only to discover that the company was never actively hiring in the first place.

Some companies post “open positions” to:

collect resumes for future use,
create an illusion of growth,
keep a pool of candidates without an actual vacancy,
or simply leave roles open indefinitely with no intention to hire.

While there are legitimate reasons why hiring processes take time, there should be more accountability and transparency.

Imagine a regulation that requires companies to:
✅ Confirm that a position is genuinely available before posting
✅ Remove job listings once hiring is paused or completed
✅ Clearly state if a role is for future opportunities or active hiring
✅ Provide transparency to applicants who invest their time in the process

A job application is not just a click on a “Submit” button. Behind every application is a person investing hope, time, and effort.

As someone who has spent years in software development, design, and product building, I always thought the biggest risks in IT were burnout, missed deadlines, and tight project schedules.

What I didn't realize was that the long hours of sitting, chronic stress, poor sleep, caffeine dependence, skipped meals, and lack of movement can silently affect something much more important: our cardiovascular health.

Recently, my own health challenges forced me to take a hard look at the lifestyle many of us in tech consider "normal."

The reality is that success in tech shouldn't come at the expense of our health.

If you're a developer, designer, engineer, product manager, freelancer, or entrepreneur, consider this a reminder to check in on yourself. Move more. Sleep better. Manage stress. Get your health screenings. Listen when your body is trying to tell you something.
