Michael Jackson's famous dance move, the Moonwalk, wasn't actually invented by him? The Moonwalk, characterized by gliding backward while appearing to walk forward, has become synonymous with Michael Jackson's performances. However, the dance move itself predates Jackson's popularization of it. The Moonwalk is believed to have originated in the 1930s and was popularized by dancers such as Bill Bailey and Cab Calloway. Michael Jackson learned the Moonwalk from street dancer Jeffrey Daniel, who was a member of the American soul group Shalamar. Jackson incorporated the move into his performance of "Billie Jean" during a Motown special in 1983, and his electrifying ex*****on of the Moonwalk captivated audiences worldwide, forever associating the move with his iconic style.
