To an adman, the space around a logo is not empty. It is guarded ground. Every brand manual has a page for it: the clear zone, the margin no other mark may enter. Nike's is among the strictest in the business, and for good reason. The kit belongs to Nike. Nike designs it, Nike manufactures it, Nike sells it. The athlete wears it. Other brands, as a rule, are kept off it.

Exceptions exist, and they are rare enough that when the US Open commentators saw Alex Eala walk on court, they talked about it on air.

Somewhere in Nike headquarters there is a brand guardian who winced. It is his job to feel pain when the margin is breached, and here it is breached, on Nike's own fabric, in front of every network's cameras.
