Presenting the UNPROMPTED_ KIDLAT 2026 Executive Jury ⚡️

This is not your usual jury of industry peers (or bosses), giving score and assigning Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

This 21-member assembly is advertising royalty. Captains of industry. Builders of brands, agencies, careers, and entire chapters of Philippine creativity. Some might even call them the country’s creative gods.

Led by Executive Jury President Melvin Mangada of TBWA\SMP, they have been given the unenviable task of determining the winners of the 2026 KIDLAT Awards.

It is not a trivial task. It is almost an impossible one.

Sometimes, the difference between Gold and Silver is a single vote. Sometimes, the room agrees immediately. Sometimes, one piece of work sends 21 accomplished people into a long, passionate argument about whether it is brilliant, merely beautiful, or beautifully pretending to be brilliant.

From a record number of entries, more than 300 pieces of work have advanced to the KIDLAT Shortlist. The Executive Jury will be evaluating, debating, and re-evaluating the very best work produced in 2025–2026, curating it further until literally only the best of the best remains.

To get past this jury is already saying something.

To win metal from them means you have survived one of the toughest rooms in Philippine advertising.

That's the kind social estate Carlo Ople wields in his various platforms. How does he do it? What are his next projects? Is he content?

And why did he leave the safety of corporate success to build businesses around the things he genuinely loved?

His career is proof that passion does not have to remain a hobby, and a community does not have to be just an audience. Before becoming a full-time entrepreneur and creator, Carlo built a formidable career across gaming, television, advertising, and telecommunications. He helped transform the business model of Ragnarok Online, established TV5’s New Media Division, became Managing Director and Partner of a digital agency that was later acquired by Dentsu, and eventually served as a Vice President at PLDT.

What began as an after-hours passion for technology and gadgets eventually became Unbox PH, which grew into the Unbox Group of Companies, with ventures spanning media, retail, content production, talent management, technology, and creator-led communities.

Carlo is also the author of Sweldo Is Not Enough, a guide to entrepreneurship in the digital age and AI. A salary can support your life, but perhaps it should not be allowed to limit your possibilities.
