Sally Kristen Ride (May 26, 1951 – July 23, 2012) was an American astronaut and physicist.

Born in Los Angeles, she joined NASA in 1978, and in 1983 became the first American woman and the third woman in space, after cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova in 1963 and Svetlana Savitskaya in 1982.

She was the youngest American astronaut to have traveled to space, having done so at the age of 32.

After flying two missions on the Space Shuttle Challenger, Ride left NASA in 1987.

Phuket, is one of the southern provinces of Thailand.

Neighboring provinces are Phang Nga and Krabi, but as Phuket is an island it has no land boundaries.

Phuket, which is somewhat smaller than the size of Singapore, is Thailand’s largest island.

The island is connected to mainland Thailand by two bridges. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea.

Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoys a rich and colorful history.

The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traders.

The region now derives much of its income from tourism.

Anger or Temper

**Now don't get your dander up.

How did dander acquire its "temper" sense?

It has been proposed that the meaning comes from the image of an angry person tearing out their hair by the fistful, scattering dandruff in the process. Some think it comes from a West Indian word dander, which refers to a kind of ferment and suggests "rising" anger (in English, ferment can mean "a state of unrest or excitement"). Others have suggested that the "anger" sense comes from the Dutch phrase op donderen, meaning "to burst into a sudden rage."

Today is the European Day of Parks, and we're joining others in taking time to appreciate and support protected natural areas throughout the continent.

Kornati, one of Croatia's eight national parks, takes that mission seriously year-round. You can visit Kornati on a day trip from Zadar, an ancient seaside city with a Roman forum and other historic sites.

And since 2005, Zadar has had the world's first sea organ, which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps.

World Turtle Day is an annual observance occurring every May 23.
It began in 2000 and is sponsored by the American Tortoise Rescue.

The day was created as a yearly observance to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world as well as to encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.

A study on the effects of biodiversity awareness days listed World Turtle Day as an example of how they increase the internet search traffic on the protected species.
