Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) officially implemented the 12% VAT on all digital and online services rendered in the Philippines by non-resident foreign digital service providers (DSPs).
💻 This includes:
✅ Netflix, Spotify, YouTube Premium
✅ Facebook/Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads
✅ Canva, Zoom, Microsoft 365, Adobe
✅ Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud
✅ Online marketplaces and platforms
✅ E-learning subscriptions
✅ Other paid digital services
🔍 Legal Basis:
This tax is enforced under BIR Revenue Regulation No. 8-2021, pursuant to Section 105-A of the Tax Code, amended by the TRAIN Law (RA 10963).
🧾 If you’re a business owner or digital freelancer:
✔️ Expect a 12% VAT charge on your subscriptions
✔️ If you’re VAT-registered, you can claim input VAT through official receipts
💡 This move is part of the government’s push to level the playing field between traditional and digital businesses, and boost national revenue.
