𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝 𝐧𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝

Sa likod ng mga pahinang naging bunga ng walang humpay na pagbabahagi ng katotohanan ng mga munting mamamahayag, may mga palad na tila nawawalan ng lakas, subalit patuloy na lumalaban. Ngunit marahil sa kabila ng lahat ng 'to, may mapalad na kapalarang naghihintay sa kanilang mga kamay na abutin iyon.

Sapagkat nang kanilang nakamtan ang tagumpay, umalab ang kapurihan at suporta ng mga namamalakad sa bayan para sa kanila.

Lulan ng edukasyon ang pagkakaroon ng mahigpit na kompetisyon para sa iba't-ibang larangan ng talino at talento; kabilang na rito ang 'National Schools Press Conference' na siyang kamakailan lamang napagtagumpayan ng mga 'campus journalists' sa Davao de Oro. Isa sa mga nag-udyok kay Governor Raul Mabanglo na mamahagi ng insentibo para sa kanila.

"Buong puso po talaga akong nagpapasalamat kay Governor, malaking tulong ito 'di lamang sa edukasyon, maging personal needs din namin." Ani Jelian Repamonte nang siya'y hiningan ng reaksyon ukol sa nangyaring pamamahagi ng 'cash incentives' na naganap sa kapitolyo ng nasabing probinsiya.

Paalala naman ng Gobernador at ilang opisyal ng DepEd (Department of Education) sa labing-isang mag-aaral na nabigyan, itatak nawa nila umano sa kanikang mga isipan ang pagiging responsable sa mga gawain at tungkulin bilang isang estudyanteng mamamahayag.

Dahil sa bawat hamong kinakaharap sa buhay, ang tunay na disiplina ang siyang magiging susi sa pagkamit ng mga minimithi.

Gayunpaman, magpapatuloy ang legasiya ng Davao de Oro sa paghubog ng mga malalalim at matalinghagang isipan sa larangan ng dyurnalismo. Hindi raw maitatanggi ng ilang mamamahayag ang kanilang kaba, na tila pumipintig sa kanilang mga dibdib tuwing may laban. Subalit hindi raw sila susuko sa pagpapatunay na sila ay karapat-dapat sa nasabing karangalan.

Samakatuwid, dulot ng dalisay na suporta ng bawat opisyal na parating nariyan upang maging gabay sa mga yapak ng bagong henerasyon, patuloy na sisibol at magsusumikap ang mga estudyanteng mamamahayag na nararapat biyayaan ng mapalad na palad.

For years, the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) of Magnaga National High School has continued to shape young writers, broadcasters, photojournalists, and media practitioners who bring pride not only to the school, but also to the entire Davao Region. Through dedication, discipline, and excellence, the program has produced campus journalists who competed and triumphed in Division, Regional, and National Schools Press Conferences.

🏆 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒

SPJ-MNHS has also proven its excellence on the national stage through remarkable achievements in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC). The school secured 5th Place in Collaborative Desktop Publishing Filipino during NSPC 2019, followed by an impressive 2nd Place finish in Collaborative Desktop Publishing English during NSPC 2023. This year, SPJ-MNHS etched its name in history after emerging as the Champion in Collaborative Desktop Publishing Filipino during NSPC 2026. In the same 2019 national competition, the program also produced a finalist for the prestigious Most Outstanding Campus Journalist award—further proving the quality, competence, and determination of Magnaga’s young journalists.

The SPJ-MNHS also takes pride in its active school publications, 𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧 and 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞, which serve as platforms for young journalists to deliver timely news, inspiring stories, informative features, and responsible campus journalism. These publications allow student-writers, editors, photojournalists, and layout artists to strengthen their skills while becoming the voice of the learners and the school community. Through years of excellence and dedication, the publications have also earned recognition and prestigious awards as Best School Paper in Division, Regional, and National competitions—further proving the outstanding quality of journalism in Magnaga National High School.

Beyond competitions, the program continues to strengthen its training through various best practices and student-centered activities.

• One of these is the Journalism Upskilling and Mentoring Program (JUMP), a school-based seminar designed to hone and sharpen students’ journalism skills through workshops, mentorship, and intensive training.

• Another initiative is the Journalympics, a competitive training ground that prepares aspiring journalists for District, Division, and even Regional-level competitions while enhancing teamwork and critical thinking.

• The program also values camaraderie through the Acquaintance Party, which allows student-journalists to build friendships and strengthen connections with one another.

• Meanwhile, the SPJlympics serves as the program’s own intramurals, giving journalists the opportunity to showcase not only their journalistic skills but also their talents and sportsmanship in various athletic events.

LAKBAY NG KAMPEON

Sa gitna ng alikabok ng mahabang biyahe at ugong ng makinang tila may sariling pintig, bumabagtas ang isang ‘coaster’ na hindi lamang naghahatid ng mga pasahero—kundi ng mga pangarap na handang magningning. Payak sa anyo, karaniwan sa paningin, ngunit sa bawat pag-andar nito ay may dalang kakaibang kinang. Ito ang sasakyang pagmamay-ari ni Congressman Jhong Ceniza—isang sasakyang naging tahanan ng pag-asa at saksi sa sunod-sunod na pag-uwi ng karangalan.

Sa loob nito, hindi lamang mga upuan ang nakahilera. Naroon ang mahigpit na kapit ng mga palad na puno ng kaba, ang mga matang nakatanaw sa malayong entablado, at ang mga pusong sabay-sabay na tumitibok sa iisang hangarin—ang magwagi. Ang bawat pagliko ng gulong ay tila himig ng panalangin, at ang bawat paghinto ay saglit ng pananabik. Sa biyahe pa lamang, tila nahuhubog na ang tagumpay.

Noong taong 2023, sakay ng parehong sasakyan, tinahak ng Collaborative Desktop Publishing English Team ng Magnaga National High School ang landas patungo sa pambansang patimpalak. Pagbalik, tangan nila ang ikalawang karangalan—isang patunay na ang kanilang paglalakbay ay hindi nauwi sa pangarap lamang, kundi sa isang tagumpay na kumikislap sa kanilang pangalan. Mula noon, ang coaster ay hindi na lamang sasakyan—ito’y naging sagisag.

Pagsapit ng 2026, muli itong umarangkada, tangan ang panibagong henerasyon ng mga manlilikha—ang Collaborative Desktop Publishing Filipino Team ng Magnaga National High School. Sa bawat kilometro, tila pinanday ang kanilang tapang at husay. At sa kanilang pagbabalik, tangan nila ang gintong tagumpay bilang kampeon sa buong bansa. Kasabay nilang nagningning ang iba pang delegado mula sa iba’t ibang bayan ng Davao de Oro, na kapwa nag-uwi rin ng mga medalya—mga patunay na ang biyaheng ito ay hindi pangkaraniwan.

Sa loob ng sasakyan, nananatili ang mga bakas ng bawat kwento—mga halakhak na sumingaw sa pagitan ng kaba, mga bulong ng pag-asa, at mga pangakong tahimik na binuo sa sarili. Ang kisame nito’y saksi sa mga pangarap na ibinulong, at ang sahig nito’y tila humahaplos sa bawat hakbang ng paglalakbay patungo sa tagumpay.

Hindi man ito nababalutan ng karangyaan, ang coaster ay nagiging sisidlan ng ginto sa bawat pagbabalik. Sapagkat ang tunay nitong laman ay hindi bakal at goma, kundi ang alab ng determinasyon, ang tibay ng loob, at ang walang kapantay na paniniwala ng mga kabataang handang magningning. Sa bawat pag-ikot ng gulong, ang karaniwan ay nagiging pambihira—at ang isang simpleng behikulo ay nagiging sasakyan ng mga lakbay ng tunay na kampeon.

Sa paanan ng kabundukan kung saan ang umaga ay sinasalubong ng malamig na simoy at ang gabi ay nilalagyan ng liwanag ng mga bituin, doon isinilang ang isang dalagang Aeta na si Angela na ang pangarap ay higit pa sa kinagisnang landas. Lumaki siya sa isang komunidad na matibay ang kapit sa tradisyon—kung saan ang pag-aasawa ay itinuturing na mahalagang yugto ng buhay.

Ngunit sa kabila nito, may isang tinig sa kanyang puso na patuloy na bumubulong; may higit pa siyang maaaring marating.

Hindi naging madali ang buhay sa labas para kay Angela. Walang katiyakan kung saan kukuha ng panggastos, kung paano pagsasabayin ang gutom at aral, at kung saan huhugot ng lakas kapag nangungulila. May mga gabing ang tanging kasama niya ay pagod at pagdududa. Ngunit sa bawat araw na pinili niyang bumangon, mas pinipili niyang huwag bumalik sa kung saan siya inaasahang manatili. Dahil para kay Angela, ang edukasyon ay hindi lamang pangarap—ito ang daan upang mabago ang takbo ng kanyang buhay.

Sa gitna ng kanyang pakikibaka, naging bahagi si Angela ng “Paskuhan sa Paaralan” ng Magnaga National High School bilang benepisyaryo. Ngunit higit pa sa natanggap niyang tulong, ang araw na iyon ay paalala na may mga taong handang umalalay sa kanyang paglalakbay. Sa simpleng pagkilala, tila may nagsabing tama ang kanyang piniling landas—na ang pag-alis niya ay hindi pagkakamali kundi isang matapang na desisyon.

At dumating ang araw ng pagtatapos. Walang engrandeng kwento, walang madramang eksena—ngunit sa likod ng kanyang simpleng pagtayo sa entablado ay isang tahimik na tagumpay. Si Angela, na minsang umalis nang walang kasiguraduhan, ngayon ay may hawak nang patunay ng kanyang pagpupunyagi. Hindi niya kinailangang talikuran ang kanyang pinagmulan—dala-dala niya ito sa bawat hakbang, bilang paalala kung saan siya nagsimula.

Ang kwento ni Angela ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pagtatapos. Ito ay kwento ng pagpili—ang piliing umalis, magtiis, at magpatuloy kahit walang kasiguraduhan. Sa mundong puno ng inaasahan, pinili niyang sundin ang sarili.

At sa huli, ang kanyang tagumpay ay hindi nasusukat sa layo ng kanyang narating, kundi sa lakas ng loob na magsimula ng sariling daan.

Umalis si Angela hindi upang lumayo—kundi upang mas mapalapit sa pangarap na siya mismo ang pumili.
