At the recent 18th PHILSME Expo, John Pagulayan, founder of Write Send Convert, said the reason is simple.

The usual focus is just one thing.

Getting new customers.

But there are actually four ways to grow a business.

He became a leading voice of the political opposition.

When martial law was declared in 1972, he was among those arrested. He was imprisoned for years, then went into exile in the United States.

On August 21, 1983, he returned to the Philippines and was assassinated upon arrival at the Manila International Airport, now renamed in his honor.
​
In 2004, Republic Act 9256 made August 21 a special non-working holiday, to mark his death anniversary.
