A high-value drug suspect was arrested by the Eastern Police District after attempting to flee from authorities during an OPLAN Sita checkpoint operation along Dr. Pilapil St., Bgy. San Miguel, Pasig City on March 9, says NCRPO chief PMGen. Anthony Aberin.

Personnel of the San Miguel Police Sub-Station flagged down the suspect after he was seen riding a black motorcycle without a safety helmet.

Instead of stopping, the suspect allegedly tried to escape but was blocked by the operating team, leading to his arrest.

During the inspection, authorities recovered from the suspect a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing about eight grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of โ‚ฑ54,400, as well as an improvised icepick.

Police said the suspect also failed to present a driverโ€™s license and motorcycle registration and allegedly resisted arrest.

Cases for disobedience to an agent of a person in authority, illegal possession of bladed weapon and violation the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the suspect before the Pasig City Prosecutorโ€™s Office. | via Jeff Caparas, ABS-CBN News

(SPOT.ph) Oh, you think the matcha trend has died down? The back-to-back matcha events over the past few weeks suggest otherwiseโ€”not to mention the rising prices and occasional shortages. If anything, demand seems to be climbing.

So, if youโ€™re looking for your next matcha fix, mark your calendars: Modern Market is hosting its first Matcha & Coffee Collective in Pasig City from March 13 to 15.

The Modern Market to Hold its First-Ever Coffee & Matcha Collective:

The Modern Market has long been doing weekend pop-ups all over Metro Manilaโ€”mostly for vintage finds and locally-made products. For the first time, they are doing a coffee- and matcha-focused event: The Coffee & Matcha Collective at Rizal Row, Estancia, Pasig City.

This is a three-day event from March 13 to 15, from Friday to Sunday (yes, the payday weekend!). We would never suggest that you drink all the matcha and coffee in one whole day, just to end up overcaffeinating and palpitating. Thankfully, the entrance is free, so space out your matcha and coffee consumption!

1.) Coffee Merchants at The Coffee & Matcha Collective

*10:30 Coffee

*Alongside Coffee

*Butterdays

*Good Sh*t Coffee

*This is Coffee

2.) Matcha Merchants at The Coffee & Matcha Collective

*Hoshi House

*Kumatcha

*Matcha Everyday

*One Cup Matcha

*Soft Brews Club

*Yura Matcha

Modern Market is also bringing a fashion lineup to the Coffee & Matcha Collective. While sipping your cup of matcha or coffee, you can check out the stalls selling clothes, bags, accessories, jewelry, and perfumesโ€”or squeeze in a photobooth session to immortalize the moment. To complete the vibe, DJs Felix, Aaron, and Wujiwavy will be spinning live sets throughout the event.

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement a four-day workweek for personnel assigned to its main building in Pasig City starting Monday as part of energy conservation measures amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the agency announced on Saturday.

The new work arrangement, cited in MMDA Memorandum Circular 05, Series of 2026, follows a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reduce electricity and fuel consumption across government offices.

Under the scheme, covered employees will work 10 hours daily, Monday through Thursday, to complete the required 40 working hours per week, in accordance with Civil Service Commission policies on alternative work arrangements.

The prescribed office hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be nonworking days (or rest days) for employees covered by the scheme.

The MMDA said the arrangement applies only to officials and employees performing support and administrative functions at the MMDA New Building in Pasig City, and personnel assigned to essential, field, operational and emergency response functions outside the main building are not covered.

As part of the changes, the agency will temporarily suspend shuttle services to remote destinations, including PITX, Lawton, Santa Lucia, MCU Monumento and Fairview.

However, a limited shuttle route between the MMDA main building along C-5 in Pasig City and EDSA near SM Megamall will continue to operate.

MMDA Chairman Don Artes said the agency will ensure that public services remain uninterrupted despite the new work schedule.

The memorandum will remain in effect until further notice or until revoked by the president, the MMDA said.

PASIG City Mayor Vico Sotto called on residents to recognize the contributions and leadership of women as the country observes National Womenโ€™s Month, in a video greeting shared by the Pasig Public Information Office on Saturday, March 7.

Sotto highlighted the national theme โ€œLead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas,โ€ which underscores the role of womenโ€™s leadership in shaping the countryโ€™s identity.

He also stressed the importance of continuing to acknowledge womenโ€™s capabilities and contributions across different sectors of society.

โ€œHappy National Womenโ€™s Month, Pasigueรฑos! Under this yearโ€™s national theme of Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas, we recognize, and we remember the womenโ€™s leadership role in our national identity,โ€ Sotto said.

Sotto added that the city government is implementing policies that protect women and ensure their participation in governance, including the Safe Spaces Ordinance and representation in local special bodies where women have a voice in policymaking.

โ€œPasigueรฑos, let us continue to recognize the contributions and capabilities of women in various fields and in our society,โ€ he added.

04/03/2026

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) signed Tuesday a memorandum of agreement with a private sector partner to launch an electric bus program aimed at improving public transportation and reducing pollution in Metro Manila.

Under the program, modern electric buses dubbed โ€œLove Busโ€ units will be deployed along key routes in the Pasig area.

Ten electric โ€œLove Busโ€ units will be deployed, with operations set to start in late April or early May. Each bus has a seating capacity of 30 passengers and will operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with possible extensions until 10 p.m., depending on demand.

MMDA Chairman Don Artes said the electric โ€œLove Busโ€ would be free of charge for commuters.

โ€œIto po ay libreng sakay, so wala pong babayaran ang ating mga kababayan sa pagsakay o paggamit nitong Love Bus. May mga designated stops po ito,โ€ he said.

He said the route was designed to fill a gap in public transportation services in the area.

โ€œWala kasing rutang ganito. Itong programang ito nagsimula dahil marami po tayong empleyado dito na nagko-commute at medyo nahihirapan dahil wala pong public transport na pumapasok dito,โ€ he added.

The eastbound route will cover:

Robinsons Galleria
Estancia Mall
MMDA
Arcovia Mall
Bridgetowne
Eastwood

The westbound route will include:

Eastwood City
C5 Eastwood Footbridge
C5 Greenmeadows Gate
Tiendesitas
C5 Julia Vargas
MMDA
Estancia Mall
Robinsons Galleria

The service will be funded by corporate sponsors, with the private sector partner also responsible for providing charging stations to support the operation of the electric buses.
