Negasonic Teenage Warhead is in the film for a very 'Deadpool' reason

Deadpool is from the X-Men universe, and like the X-Men movies, Deadpool was a product of 20th Century Fox. That said, Fox was a little iffy about including valuable X-Men characters in the Deadpool world. The producers were given a list from Fox of potential characters they would be allowed to use. They chose Negasonic Teenage Warhead because her name is “Negasonic Teenage Warhead.”

A few different actresses were considered for Vanessa

Reynolds was always going to play Deadpool. However, casting the female lead of Vanessa took a little more consideration. Some of the actresses who tested included Taylor Schilling and Rebecca Rittenhouse. Ultimately, Morena Baccarin was cast.
