Stop copy-pasting hashtags that "look good."
I used to do this too β grab whatever hashtags felt popular, slap them on, hope for the best. π₯²
Turns out, hashtags work better when they're chosen on purpose, not by feel.
Here's the simple way I think about it now:
1οΈβ£ Mix big and small.
Huge hashtags (millions of posts) get buried fast. Tiny ones barely get seen at all. Aim for a mix β some with real reach, some specific enough that you can actually rank.
2οΈβ£ Match the content, not the brand.
This took me a while to learn β hashtags should reflect what the post is about, not who you are as a creator. Your personal brand tags belong in your bio or profile posts, not mixed into niche content.
3οΈβ£ Less is more.
You don't need 20 hashtags to be "thorough." 5-8 relevant ones usually outperform a wall of tags that dilute your reach.
I'm still learning this too, honestly β but small adjustments like these have already changed how my posts perform.
What's your hashtag struggle? Too many, too few, or just guessing like I used to?
